The Gospel Of Subsidy And Why Protest Should Focus On Reversal Of Fuel Price by Mightyify(m): 10:28am On Jul 29 |
In school they taught me that subsidy is one of the ways govt ensure that the country's common wealth reaches all. Subsidy makes it harder for businesses to exploit people on essential products and services. It's deceit and lies that Govt is trying to demonise subsidy by saying it shouldn't be paid so they can save money to do more projects. What else do you stand to benefit from the govt as time has proven that palliatives and grants are always embezzled and never gets to real poor people? I don't care how much Govt is going to pay for subsidy for the reversal of fuel pump price to N250 because that single policy has brought untold hardship to Nigerians. Even if it means subsidising crude oil for Dangote(After all it's our natural resources). I expected Labour to hold on to fuel price reversal but they failed. Will upcoming protest to achieve that as well? Yes! Because our leaders are smarter than us. I see them also claiming subsidy is the reason why we can't solve electricity issue. They claimed Once it's removed....24hrs electricity becomes possible. It's quite unfortunate that most people buy into that crab. It's months now, most band A feeders can't boost of 20hrs electricity. I'm of the opinion that around 500k barrels be set aside for local consumption and it will be sold to local refineries (Dangote refinery for now) at a flat rate that will ensure come rain or shine, the price will be cheap. We run a generator dependent economy, cheap access to fuel (diesel, petrol and others) must be ensured. The economic terrorists telling the government it can not afford subsidy has five or more subsides happening in their own country. The masses should not be made to suffer the ineptitude of the government. The fact that the government can not ensure that subsidy is corruption free or fuel smuggled outside the country are not enough reasons the masses should be burdened with the removal of subsidy. If there's some scam going on in subsidy you remove the scam not the subsidy. If no subsidy exists in an economy then govt is stealing from the people because nothing else can ensure equal distribution of a Nation's wealth than subsidy. Any protest should concentrate on the government returning the price of fuel. Anything else is nonsense and can wait. 1 Like 1 Share |

... and the government will not listen to this gospel... Tinubu has no interest of Nigerians at heart. How can you just wake up and remove subside without proper planning to mitigate what might be the ripple effects? Some fools in this platform will soon start to attach me because I mentioned the name Tinubu here. I left..! |
