Peugeot 505 Evolution!!! The day my uncle came to Christmas with the car, everyone was just looking at the "Queen ". A majestic and prestigious car for top government officials. He landed to village from Lagos, driven by one of the ministry's driver, where he was a deputy director in a federal government ministry. The balance and the pride of that Peugeot 505 Evolution was far ahead of its peers, with long radio signal pole at the middle of the boot cover and a plate number, "23 FGN 66"

I cruised my dad's Peugeot 504 car like mad those day. The car dey consume fuel but e dey move. The official car of government officials back then.

I remember IBB even used it in Dodan Barracks those days and shared same to army officers especially those who died on board the Hercules C-130 turbo prop transporter plane that crashed in the Ejigbo canal enroute Kaduna on 26 September, 1992.

Vintage. I have this admiration for people who still cruise this 504 or the Mercedes flatboot and the volvo740. But i think Ibb distributed the 504 and VW Jetta saloon cars to the officers after that ejigbo canal tragedy. Then the word was that he did the largesse to appease discontent within the junior officer cadre.

I think the Peugeot 504 is more common among high ranking government officials i.e civilians and military while the Mercedes v boot are highly regarded more by businessmen and other private enterpreneurs back in those days.
The gleaming steel bumper and fender against the sunlight is binding beauty.
The other type l think 504SR or so has plastic bumper and fender offering it's in cool beauty.

Mercedes V boot on other hand,l don't remember seeing a brand new one though is cherished for it's robustness and durability. Not without it's signature boot which we were always eager to catch a glimpse of, back then.

She had the glass up and ac on and was speeding away. As we were driving we overtook a bank convoy, that was when I stretched and looked at the speedometer.
