Human rights activist and Convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore has denied the postponement of the planned #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.

Sowore made this known on Wednesday via his social media account, describing the report purporting the postponement as fake news.

He wrote: “PLEASE IGNORE THE DESPERATE FAKE ANNOUNCEMENT IN CIRCULATION THAT #EndBadGovernance REVOLT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. IT IS FALSE! #nogoingback #DaysOfRage #RevolutionNow.”

Nigerians are set to take to the streets in large numbers for a ten-day protest starting August 1 to voice their dissatisfaction with the hardship caused by the policies of President Bola Tinubu's government and poor governance generally in the country.

However, a recent circular on Wednesday announced a change in plans, shifting the protest to October 1, 2024, to align with the country's Independence Day celebrations.

But the #RevolutionNow convener, who is one of those at the forefront of the campaign for the protest, dismissed the news as fake.

There have been moves by government authorities and people loyal to the government to persuade and on other occasions threaten people not to join the protests.

For instance, a group of thugs loyal to President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday stormed a popular market in Lagos Island, Lagos State to warn traders and residents against joining the nationwide protests.

SaharaReporters reported on Tuesday how the group of thugs captured in a viral video used a loudspeaker to intimidate traders at the market, threatening them with harsh repercussions if they fail to meet their demands.

The video, which has been circulating on social media, captures the thugs moving through the market, issuing their threats to the traders.

“Things should not get destroyed in Lagos. If they close your shops, what will you do?” one of them said.

“We dare anyone to come out on Thursday to join the protest. This is just a warning.”

Sowore the opportunistic clout chaser.

E don hijack the protests and turned himself to chief organizer from the US cheesy

Time for him to start seeking foreign donations. Same tactics he used to swindle foreign sponsors of Saharareporters. It's also the same reason why he has been contesting for Presidency for almost 20 years. It's about the donations windfall every 4 years cheesy

The fool isn't different from Simon Ekpa. Hijack a cause then start collecting donations.

It has always been about the money and clout.

Sowore wants to be seen as the leader of the protest. But, it won't work.

APC and their handlers are in deep mess. August 1st protest will surely hold as planned. It will be massively nationwide in all the 36 states in Nigeria. Be prepared

Sowere is just among over 20 organizers of this protest and as such he cannot call it off. Nobody can singlehandedly!

Sowore is seen much because he has platforms but the zanga zanga of the North cannot be stopped!

Have you heard from El Rufai?

Zanga zanga do le!

Nobody owns this protest...

It is for the commonfolks who haven't had a day of respite since they messed up the exchange rate and announced a phantom 'subsidy is gone'.. who is forced to eat only once a day and there is still a threat to the one meal because of their greed and selfishness.

It's for the middle class who are being eroded on Daily basis.. pushed to the lower class.

It's for businesses (Poultry, nanobusinesses, etc) forced to closed down just in one year..

It's for the man who can no longer pay his children's school fees and buy food for the house..

It's for the graduate who has been forced to roam the street many years after graduation..

It's for the farmers who have been chased away from their farms by Bandits and Terrorists..

It's for the young man who can't even start his own home because of harsh economic realities..

It's against a government that has asked the whole country to tighten their belt but they have loosened theirs.

So you can see It's bigger than Sowore or whoever..
