Why Can't Tinubu Just Reverse His Disastrous Policies? by Mille: 2:24pm On Aug 01, 2024 |
Even if I didn't vote or campaigned for anybody in the 2023 election, I hoped Tinubu would win because I believed him to be the most capable of the contestants. My preference for the election was; Tinubu - Atiku - Kwankansho - Obi.
Even if some of us knew it was Buhari that actually planned the removal of the fuel subsidy, Tinubu has actually mismanaged the process of the removal. That man disappointed me from the first day of his tenure with his unguarded and unwarranted statement of how "fuel subsidy is gone" without making plans on how to cushion the effects.
With rising cost of living, hunger and inflation, two things bother me about the president. The masses are not seeing the effects of the money saved from fuel subsidy neither does residents see any changes in their states or lives due to increased FAAC state allocation.
A man who supposedly cares for the people should have, even if temporarily, reversed the disastrous fuel subsidy removal until a better time, suspend taxes on food and essential products and services, and opened the borders to allow for importation of cheap food to tackle hunger and teach the greedy food producers and middlemen a lesson.
Why isn't the president doing so? Maybe Tinubu people or members of APC should come and educate us.

Anyone who studies accounting is typically well-versed in resource management, so it is puzzling that President Tinubu's resource management skills seem to be lacking. It raises questions about the legitimacy of his qualifications, prompting speculation that he may have forged his certificate. 1 Like |

The man and his appointees have reached a dead end.
First he removed subsidy by making an unguarded announcement, a week later he floated the Naira. He did these without thinking of how the policies will affect the people.
Bringing subsidy back now will be too expensive as it will be very difficult to bring the Naira back to below 800 naira that he met it. It will cost a lot doing those.
The man isn’t visionary as he was claimed to be. 1 Like |

No denying that. Provisions were made for subsidy until I think July, in the hope that the next president will take measures to contain the fallout before its removal. No plan, no strategies, he just announced it was gone during inauguration, plunging the country immediately into chaos on his first day. I planned to move some properties interstate two days after his inauguration. The people I had agreed price with prior had to tell me the price was now triple what we agreed due to his unguarded statement. |
