The Borno State government has imposed a 24-hour curfew in response to ongoing nationwide hunger protests and a recent bomb explosion in the State.

The curfew announcement was made by the spokesperson for the State Police Command, Nahum Kenneth Daso, in a statement on Thursday.

The decision comes in the wake of a bomb explosion at a local tea joint in the state earlier on Wednesday.

Reports indicated that the explosion resulted in the deaths of 19 people, although the police have confirmed 16 fatalities. The incident has raised significant security concerns, prompting immediate action from state authorities.

“In view of the constitutional mandate of the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security and law enforcement agencies toward preservation of law and order in the state, the curfew is deemed necessary,” said Daso. “You are all aware of the incident that took place at Kawori, where an improvised explosive device detonated, leading to the death of 16 persons and causing critical injuries to several others, who are now receiving treatment in various government hospitals in the state.”

The statement emphasised that the curfew was declared in the interest of peace. “In line with our constitutional mandate towards the restoration of law and order, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umar Zulum, in consultation with heads of security in the state, finds it expedient to declare a 24-hour curfew in the state with immediate effect.”

Daso called on the residents of Borno State to remain calm and law-abiding during this period. “Further developments will be communicated to you accordingly,” the statement concluded.

Only solution to Hunger is Food not curfew.

Tinubu should just open his mouth and say "Subsidy is Gone Back" and the protests will end.
Nigeria is rich enough to subsidise fuel at ₦200 per litre.

Then slash into half all salaries and allowances of Senators, House of Reps, Govs, and all top Govt officials and cut down on Govt wastages.
Then scrap either Senate or House of Rep.
Then scrap all those many unproductive Govt agencies.
Then scrap all those many useless SA's and PA's.
...

Looks like Borno is trying to cover up the real issues with a curfew. Instead of addressing the hunger crisis, they want to silence the voices of the people. It’s always the same script: suppress dissent rather than solve the problems at hand. When will these leaders learn that you can't just lock people up and expect the issues to disappear? They are more interested in maintaining power than actually helping the citizens. Hunger is a serious matter, and a curfew won't feed the people.

This protest will not last past this weekend.

Borno protest is effectively over.

There will be no protests allowed next week. Since all have shown that the protest was never planned to be peaceful, and is rather an attempt at anarchy and insurrection.

Those who wanted to loot and vandalize have been allowed to do so.

Those who wanted to gloat have been allowed to do so.

Those who wanted to scream with their feminine voices that "Tinubu must go", with the delusional hope that Peter Obi will somehow take over power, have also been allowed to show that they are indeed delusional.

Even those who wanted to risk their lives have done so fatally.

Next week will be the government clamp down an any stubborn anarchist that dares the security and safety of all Nigerians.

Una don dissipate una energy, everyone go home and rest.

At the end of the day, the North already feels betrayed by the very weeping boys of Nigeria, who thought there would be some political benefit to their region with the disgrace of a yoruba government, so they kept magnifying all the problems of Nigeria, including these protests.

Las las, they keep losing.
