My Betting Experience (You should read this before you get addicted) by Passiveseyi(m): 10:15pm On Aug 03 |
The first time I ever tried betting
I was in SS1
I saw people talk about it a lot
I decided to give it a trial during holiday
I placed my first bet with N500(some money left out of my pocket money)
I won about N3,500+
I was really excited but.. 😆
I didn't have a bank account 😭
I reached out to my elder brother to send me his account details
I withdraw the money with his account details
Up till today, he still haven't gotten the alert, according to him🤬
I called people that are more experienced than I am, my friends then, to ask them what happened to my money
They said I shouldn't be scared and I should try again
This time, I can use their own account if I win
I tried the second time - I lost
I tried again the third time - I lost again
I tried mixing up the same game with different predictions and same stake - I lost again 😭
Then I stopped and told myself never to get involved in betting again....
Maybe God didn't allow me get that money I won because that life wasn't my path
Maybe If I had gotten access to that money, I wouldn't have had reason to stop betting _____ But I still kept these friends who are into it
I started rolling with them
I used to be very brilliant in Junior school
Infact, I was the overall best in the whole block in JSS2(6 classes in total) then, I also got best result for BECE exams (that JSS3 crossing to SSS1 general exam)
But I started getting dull
Keeping friends that are girls( the same me that use to be very shy)
Started a relationship too with one girl too (not a serious relationship tho)
My grades dropped drastically
But I was very conscious of not failing my exams so, I read when it's time for exams and manage to be among the top 20 in block throughout my senior secondary school
Some of these friends I kept had to drop out because of low grades
We entered a lot of school cases together then, from crossing bounds to buy indomie and suya (going outside school through illegal route in a boarding school system), to cooking in uncompleted buildings in school or hostel ceiling, to getting our phones seized multiple times.
In SS3, I was appointed by my collegues to be one of the coordinators in block
My phone was seized in first term, I was the first to be called out on assembly that term and my phone was destroyed right in my presence
Maybe that was why my colleagues respected me and appointed me to coordinate them
Little did I know that, they knew I have been disgraced already and taking another disgrace should not be difficult for me again, so I was best fit to coordinate the final exam affairs for SS3
Some teachers were aware
My phones could no longer be seized after this my new appointment
Even if it gets seized, I have connection from teachers that have higher power to get it back
Because we settle them a lot and I was in charge of the money we do contribute
So nothing should happen to me if they want to keep getting their share
My jamb score hit me really had - very low😭
Fast forward till we finished our exams
There were a lot of complication that almost got us in trouble especially me and the other coordinators in charge
We were invited many times for questioning, they sent different spy student to us to get us down
But we scaled through because we were conscious not to fall
Most of us graduated with average grades and everyone parted ways
Maybe if I had not kept these friends, I wouldn't have gone through all of this and probably even graduate as one of the best student in school then
I wouldn't have had to experience such a terrible life experience
I would have found it easier to read and understand easily now because, I would have gotten used to the habit
All thanks to God for not allowing me ruin my life with my own hands, and for keeping me safe even when I almost ruined it completely myself with what I got myself into
What did this teach you?
