~ As Mrs Ime Charles Emerges Chairmanship Candidate, Mr Aniedi Udofia, Councillorship Candidate, Abak Urban Ward 5

It was a beautiful site to behold as all Peoples Democratic Party political stakeholders, returning officers and delegates gathered at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat, Abak chapter for primaries election to elect chairmanship and councilorship candidates for the party.

Speaking earlier at the party secretariat along Ikot Ekpene Road, Abak Local Government, before departing to respective wards for Councillorship primaries, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong, who is the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), charged the people to ensure a peaceful atmosphere at the Ward primaries and also uphold the electoral act law as well as the party template.

He advised them to also ensure that candidates for the councilorship elections in all the wards emerge through due process as instructed by the Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.

Speaker Otong, who proceeded to his ward, Abak Urban Ward 5, participated, along with other party members, nominated Mr Aniedi Effiong Udofia as the candidate for the ward and was officially declared the winner by the returning officer, Mr Anwana Okon Ukpong.

At the Independence Hall Abak, where delegates from all the wards assembled to elect the chairmanship candidate for the Abak Executive Chairmanship position after the councilorship primaries, the Speaker urged the delegates to exhibit their franchise rights in a truly democratic process to elect the chairmanship candidate in a landslide.

Addressing the delegates, Returning Officer Apostle Samuel Noah advised all delegates to conduct themselves maturely, stating that the Chairmanship primary was only conducted to allow the delegates to exercise their right peacefully and democratically.

During the process of electing the chairmanship candidate for the Abak Executive Chairmanship seat at the Abak Independence Hall, thirty-six (36) delegates cast their votes in a true democratic process, and Mrs Ime Effiong Charles emerged as the winner, pulling thirty-six (36/36) over thirty-six.

In her appreciation speech, the chairmanship candidate Mrs Ime Effiong Charles, expressed appreciation to the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong for ensuring a peaceful electioneering atmosphere during the primaries.

She said the Speaker has changed the political narrative of the area through transformation, impacts and all-inclusive governance, uniting the people to speak in one voice for the pursuit of a common interest for the benefit of the local government and the people.

While thanking the speaker for using his office as a mechanism to galvanize the Abak people into one political direction, he also thanked all the political stakeholders of Abak for the show of love and unity. She further expressed her deepest appreciation to the political stakeholders for choosing her as the party's candidate for the Executive chairmanship position and subsequently confirmed her as the chairmanship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party for Abak Local Government Area.

The chairmanship candidate who thanked all the delegates, party members and supporters, assured them of a robust administration and promised to carry the people along in her government.
