The Nigerian women's national basketball team, known as D'Tigress, represents Nigeria in international competitions. They are a prominent force in African basketball, having won multiple AfroBasket Women's Championships, most recently in 2023. D'Tigress made history by becoming the first African women's team to reach the Olympic quarterfinals in basketball. They are currently ranked among the top teams in Africa and continue to grow in international stature, showcasing Nigerian talent on a global stage.

Nigeria’s female basketball team, D'Tigress, have qualified for a first-ever Olympics Basketball quarter-final after outscoring Canada 79-70 on Sunday. Nigeria lost the second and fourth quarters 23-19, 24-19 respectively, and won the third 23-5 which proved to be the difference. The first quarter was tied at 18 points each. Ezinne Kalu led scoring for Nigeria with 21 points, Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah had 7 rebounds to lead that section, while Promise Amukamara had the most assists, 6. The victory means D’Tigress have won two of their three group games and lost one, scoring 208 points and letting in 207 in the process.

Nigerians competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in basketball, one of ten events their national teams qualified for. The Nigerian women's basketball team was one of the twelve teams competing in the event. They earned their berth through a zone qualifying tournament and played in Group A along with Australia, Brazil, Greece, Japan, and Russia. The team went 0–5 in the preliminary round. In the 11/12th place game, they defeated Korea for a final finish of 11th out of 12 teams. With this win, they became the first women's African basketball team to win a game at the Olympics. Mfon Udoka was the team's leading scorer and the tournament's second highest scorer. Team athletes Itoro Umoh-Coleman and Joanne Aluka both played high school basketball at Hephzibah High School prior to playing together for Nigeria.

Manchester United are ready to resume negotiations with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Agreements with both players, including terms until June 2029 and an option for extension, were reached days ago.

The players' representatives remain confident and are now awaiting United's next move.
