Chief Olabode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday says President Bola Tinubu is being advised by voodoo economists.

Speaking on Arise TV, George also frowned at the palliatives being given by the Federal Government across the country, saying it doesn't make any economic sense.

According to him, after finishing the palliatives, the people will go hungry again and start looking for the next meal.

"The issue of palliatives doesn't make any economic sense to me. Look, teach people how to fish so you can feed them forever. How many times are you going to keep buying rice and supplying it to people? Some of those palliatives are so bad. You cannot do that. This country is massive".

The former military governor of Ondo state also offered advice to the government on how to address the hardship in the country and better the lives of Nigerians.

"There are other ways you can follow to positively impact on the people. Micro credit, very low interest rates, special rates for farmers. You can buy fertilisers to support them for production".

'If it's only consumption you are looking at, then i don't know the voodoo economists that are there advising the president. This is very disappointing".

Sir, it seems you're not following the political trends. Nigerians has been turned to citizens of an IDP camp. Their economic prosperity is no longer a priority, they should all sit down and be fed like fowls owned by a poor hungry person.

Election has consequences.

Bode George should focus on his own failures instead of criticizing the FG. The government knows what it's doing; palliatives are necessary for the people.

No sense at all.

I suggest every Nigerian Politician contesting for any Political position must be well grounded in Economics regardless of their areas of specialty. They way some of these men handle the economy is kindergartenlike

It doesnt
Its one of the few things The FG does that still baffles me till date

They wont circulate, barely reach up to 10% of the total population, gets looted and in the end, the Masses wouldnt still feel it, whereas, the FG actually released it

Its a loss on The FG part and a loss a minus to the masses too

Bode George's perspective is noted, but palliatives are a step in the right direction. The FG is trying to cushion the effects of hardship while exploring sustainable solutions. Let's give them some credit for the effort!

We all know how Tinubu stole the mandate with the help and cooperation of the lanky general. We also see his results clearly enough. We also know your job here and on all of SM. We know.

Palliative is temporary. Let him rid the bushes of bandits so we can farm and eat what we like instead of reactionary palliative that wont last 2 weeks.

Bode George needs to understand that palliatives are just a temporary relief for the suffering masses.

While I agree that the long-term solution is essential, we can't ignore the immediate needs of our people.

If FG is stepping up to cushion the effects of hardship, that's a commendable move. It's time we start appreciating efforts rather than criticizing them without offering solutions.

Let's support the government in finding a balanced approach instead of throwing around blanket statements.

I detest the idea of palliatives so much.

Palliatives seem to me as backwardness.

Imagine giving a household 1 bag of rice. They will finish it and Hardship continues. That's because they will continue to buy rice at around 80k per bag.

I also detest the noise around minimum wage. That's because the current minimum wage of 70k cannot purchase what the minimum wage of 30k could purchase.

Even if the FG doesn't reverse subsidy removal, That Naira floating policy must be looked into. Else, we never see anything yet o.

Many of the economically senseless and clueless government are accustomed to peanuts 30k monthly stipends and miserable rice palliatives they are being tossed @ that is why their brains are still warped defending a government of corruption and failure.

Nobody needs to teach Nigerians how to fish. A large proportion of Nigerians are very entrepreneurial. Give them an enabling economic environment, good infrastructure (power, efficient and cheap transport systems), reduced tax incentives for SMEs, an unbiased and speedy justice structure, to name a few, and watch us fly. Most of the countries we 'japa' to aren't necessarily richer than us resources wise or better in terms of social culture. They just have these advantages over us and that's why we flock there.

The Palliative is a scam.
How many of us here has benefited any palliative or knows somebody that has benefitted.
Since Fuel Subsidy was Removed, what has the citizens Benefits?
20 Billion for VP Lodge, How many Billion spent to purchase car for Senate and Rep?
Among all the palliative they are using to scam us, how many have Citizens benefited or did you know some body that has benefited any of the palliative sir?
For the 20Trucks of rice that was alledge to have been sent to each States. How many have you seen or received?
You can't remove Subsidy without nothing to show forth for it.
Among all the billions shared monthly for allocation to each state , how many have transformed life of Citizens. Governors has been enjoying, because allocation has increased, what have they done with it, if not for them to steal more.
My fellow Compatriots, let's tell our self truth.
You can not be living large at the detriment of the citizens, it's an abberation.
The only social programs that Citizens enjoy is just the Fuel Subsidy.
Remove the Corruption in Subsidy not the subsidy.
We never knew the important of it , until it was removed and we are all feeling the heat .
Government of Propaganda and lies.

Palliative makes no sense. First you give a poor man raw rice. Will he eat raw rice. Also most of the Palliative does not reach the poor masses. Rather it's rebagged and sold in the market
