Chioma Ajunwa is the only Nigerian that have won an Olympic gold medal as an individual.


She was notable for being the first Nigerian to win Olympic gold at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
Her carrer was stained with failed drugs test.

The first ever olympic medal won for Nigeria was a Bronze medal won by Nojim Maiyegun at the 1964 games in Tokio ( Boxing - Light middleweight Division).
