Kwara Govt Embarks On Lamodi-onireke Canal Reconstruction Project In Offa LG by Jimsonjaat96(m): 8:10am On Aug 11
In a bid to prevent flooding and enhance the well-being of residents, the Kwara State Government has commenced the reconstruction of the Lamodi Onireke Canal culvert.

The project, which is currently underway, involves the demolition of the existing ring culvert and its replacement with an elevated box culvert design.

According to Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi Adato, member representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, the new design will facilitate better flow of floodwater across the canal, thereby preventing flooding in the area.

During an inspection visit to the site on Monday, 5th August 2024, Honourable Ogunniyi expressed delight at the progress of the project, which he noted, has generated excitement among residents of Lamodi-Onireke.
"The people are thrilled about the project and have commended the government for its responsiveness to their needs," he said.

However, Ogunniyi seized the opportunity to appeal to residents to adopt safe and responsible waste disposal practices, urging them to desist from indiscriminate refuse disposal.

He assured them that the government is working to provide waste receptacles for easy collection and proper disposal.

The reconstruction of the Lamodi Onireke Canal culvert is a testament to the Kwara State Government's commitment to infrastructure development and community well-being. As the project progresses, residents are eager to witness the positive impact on their lives.
