The Unexplained Ceasefire from the SW APC factions : A Shift in Social Media Dynamics in Nigeria

In recent years, Nigeria's political landscape has been significantly influenced by the activities of paid social media influencers, often referred to as "trolls." These individuals, sponsored by various political factions, have been known to spread disinformation and sow discord among different ethnic groups. One notable example is the South West (SW) faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has been accused of using paid trolls to create and disseminate disparaging posts against the Igbo (Ibo) community.

However, a noticeable shift has occurred recently. The once rampant disparaging posts targeting the Igbo community have significantly decreased. This unexplained ceasefire has left many wondering about the underlying reasons and implications.

The Role of Paid Trolls in Political Discourse

Paid trolls have become a powerful tool in the hands of political parties in Nigeria. These individuals are hired to manipulate public opinion, create false narratives, and exacerbate ethnic tensions. The SW APC, in particular, has been accused of using these tactics to create a rift between the South West and South East (SE) regions.

#### The Impact of the #EndBadGovernance Protest

The #EndBadGovernance protest, which gained momentum in August 2024, marked a significant turning point in Nigeria's political activism. The movement, driven by widespread dissatisfaction with the government's performance, brought together Nigerians from various ethnic backgrounds. It highlighted the common struggles faced by citizens, regardless of their ethnic affiliations.

During this period, the Hausa-Fulani community, traditionally aligned with the SW APC, began to distance themselves from the South West faction. This severance of ties may have contributed to the reduction in targeted disinformation campaigns against the Igbo community. The unity displayed during the protests may have forced political actors to reconsider their divisive tactics.

Is The Ceasefire A Strategic Shift?

The recent decrease in disparaging posts against the Igbo community could be a strategic shift by the SW APC. With the changing political dynamics and the growing demand for accountability, continuing such divisive tactics could backfire. The party may be attempting to rebuild its image and foster a more inclusive narrative.

The unexplained ceasefire in the disparaging social media posts against the Igbo community by SW APC trolls is a noteworthy development. It reflects the evolving political landscape in Nigeria and the potential impact of grassroots movements like #EndBadGovernance. While the exact reasons for this shift remain unclear, it is a positive step towards reducing ethnic tensions and promoting unity among Nigerians.

As the political climate continues to evolve, it will be interesting to observe how these dynamics play out and whether this ceasefire will lead to more substantial changes in the way political discourse is conducted in Nigeria.

It's because for every evil that the south west wish the Igbos, they get it back in hundred folds.

Go to South east and see for yourself how Igbos are progressing at a very fast pace , mansions are being erected and roads being fixed and this are all individual efforts.

Some mansions you see in banana island are in villages in South east .
God is with the Igbos πŸ’―% and it will always remain like that .

The south east has the highest untapped gas deposit in Africa and one of the highest in the world. Just did the records ⏺️

The fact that the mods will even allow a thread with this heading and content is unbelievable.

Calling people SW trolls is acceptable to Nairaland? '

Op has clearly used 'SW' as a convenient substitute for 'Yoruba' in order to disguise the ethnic baiting character of his thread.

Nairaland promised a total ban on ethic slurs. Is it going to step up and do the right thing here?

Don't be deceived.
The reason for that is that, the north is now working against tinibu and the paid trollers have been warned in their camps to desist from trolling and attacking Igbos because, tinibu and his goons now wants a united South to fight the north politically.

Op do you blame them? undecided

Almost 99% of them have switched monikers and accounts up to 20 times since last year because supporting tilumpuu is an overtime work that carries heavy shame and curses cry

Now that the northerners, middle belt and Niger delta people have seen their unclothedness they have now withdrawn into their shells and instead developed chatgpt bots to do their work for them.

Because let's face it . . . To pack shit from overflowing soak-away is far easier and more dignifying than supporting tilumbu cool plus it pays better too wink

I pity them πŸ˜•
