Yet one Obi supporter like that will be claiming that infrastructure is not important. Hope he can read now why the lack of it can affect the livelihood of people

In this case infrastructure is not compulsory. If Nigeria's first son can fly presidential fleet to go play polo, let them fly the rice out of ebonyi, afterall the current minister of works an former governor built an expensive intl airport there.

There are many causes of the hunger. But for me, the two biggest causes of food insecurity in Nigeria are:
1. The menace of herders scaring away farmers from their farms over the years. In Benue, for example, many farmers have left their farms to the cities.
2. The high cost of transportation due to high cost of fuel.
Exactly the tow major causes

How come Nigerians don't look to history? Even RECENT history is ignored. Think about why we haven't heard a lot about these people anymore.....Zimbabwean Farmers that moved to Nigeria in 2006. Does anyone know if they're still there? I think I read something a few years ago that it didn't work out well for them.

https://www.npr.org/2006/03/22/5288362/zimbabwean-farmers-find-a-new-life-in-nigeria#:~:text=Forced%20out%20of%20Zimbabwe%20by%20President%20Robert%20Mugabe%27s,the%20white%20commercial%20farmers%20despite%20some%20local%20opposition.

Forced out of Zimbabwe by President Robert Mugabe's infamous land-reform program, a small group of white farmers is taking advantage of a second chance in Nigeria.

Bukola Saraki, the governor of Kwara State, wooed the white commercial farmers despite some local opposition. He hopes to harness the expertise of the farmers from Zimbabwe to jump-start Nigeria's commercial agricultural sector. Nigeria spends billions annually on food imports.

No doubt those two points you raised are significant. Just as significant is the STRUCTURAL framework on which the economy operates.

Take land ownership for instance. There are giant, well capitalized businesses that can invest in Nigerian agriculture. However, LAND OWNERSHIP is surely a hinderance to them. ALL LAND IN NIGERIA IS OWNED BY GOVERNMENT which can take it over at any time. That is the law TODAY.

Building a productive agric business will require heavy financial investment into FIXED IMPROVEMENTS. There's no guarantee that the government won't come in and take over the farm AFTER the improvements have been made.

Business investment may require taking LOANS. Interest rates in Nigeria are extremely high because the Federal Government policy is to defend the naira at all costs. One of the primary ways of defending a currency is HIGH INTEREST RATES, this is why Nigeria has ALWAYS had high interest rates, the people and government agree that a STRONG NAIRA is good.

Very few smart businesses will take a 25% loan to invest in agriculture.

Now let's see what happened to the Zimbabwean farmers with a look back from the Guardian Nigeria in 2024

How N1.7b Loan Led To Fall Of Shonga Farms
HOWEVER, despite these success stories and testimonies, 18 years after, the relics of these white Zimbabwean farmers only exist in the imagination of the state, residents and other players in the sector.

Sadly, the much-prized Shonga Farms that was once the pride of Kwarans, and their boisterous 13,000 hectares plantations, have now become a shadow of itself and a sorry sight to behold, as it has nearly been abandoned and overgrown with weeds.

Read the rest here - https://guardian.ng/features/kwara-shonga-farms-where-imprints-of-white-zimbabwean-farmers-rarely-exist/

The problems of Nigeria are EASY to solve, the PEOPLE and their GOVERNMENT are too obsessed with SOCIALISM to see those solutions. One day they will have no option but to do the needful - adopt FREE MARKETS & TRIBAL AUTONOMY.

Good Luck to Nigeria

Why don't you plant your own yam in your Village just like I do. I don't buy yam, pepper tomatoes etc. So I'm not concerned by the noise makers online claiming food are expensive

How many individual are farming in the UK, US and Canada and they have surplus. Nigeria government should keep to their responsibilities and stop using propaganda on the gullible Nigerians.
You actually don't know what you're saying. There are massive agricultural activities going on in these countries you mentioned. They have all they need and so their output is way more compared to Nigeria's.

That's what you get when;

1. High price, hence nobody wants to buy
2. Negative influence of unnecessary associations
3. Lack of proper storage
3. Poor infrastructure
