Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has sworn in six new Permanent Secretaries. While swearing them in, he urged them to see their appointments as a call to service rather than merely a recognition of their qualifications.

During the swearing-in ceremony at the Executive Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday, Gov Fubara emphasised the need for the new appointees to serve as ambassadors of his administration.

He also declared an end to the practice of retaining permanent secretaries on a contract basis after retirement. While adding that moving forward, those due for retirement will step aside and pave way for others to rise.

The Governor urged the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries to act with integrity and prioritise the State's interests at all times.

Those sworn in were Dr Mrs Mekele Comfort Igwe, Mrs Anthonia Iyaye Ekiseh, Dr Mrs Azibaolanari Uzoma-Nwogu, Mrs Ihuima Patience Ray-Boms, Mr Nwizug Gonee Gordon, and Mr Chukwuma Ndudi Augustine.

Gov Fubara capped off the ceremony with the handing over of official vehicles to the newly sworn in Permanent Secretaries so as to ensure that they hit the ground running.
