This is a reply to the thread below which was created to spill nonsense information for reasons best k own to the creator

I am seeing a thread on this section where some misguided agbad0rians are trying to spew thrash concerning the topic above and I wish to lay the topic to rest once and for all.

What we all should know is that the Niger bridge is the window into the south east from the rest of Nigeria and due to this fact the traffic being witnessed on that bridge is always too high.

Now, during peak seasons when most easterners return home for various locations there is always a bottleneck all the way from asaba to the Niger bridge and into onitsha itself. This means that those who are travelling to other locations like abia, imo, port harcourt, akwa-cross, etc are always stuck in the stretch of road between asaba and owerri-interchange (in onitsha) for upwards of 6 to 8 hours ona very good day. This makes their travel time double and sometimes triple because of the hold up and traffic usually encountered in the main onitsha town especially in the evenings when all the markets have closed for the day.

Now, that second Niger bridge was built to ease traffic in the main onitsha town by diverting vehicles and cargo which were supposed to go to other parts of the Eastern side of our country PAST THE CITY OF ONITSHA ENTIRELY by linking asaba directly to the onitsha - owerri express way. This diversion was the main reason for the second Niger bridge and nit entirely because if the condition of the first Niger bridge (even though it was one of the factors for its construction).

Now that there is a second Niger bridge we experience less traffic in onitsha town itself because all the vehicles and cargo not designated to terminate their journeys in the city get rerouted past the entire city and directly onwards to the onitsha - owerri highway for them to continue their journey without adding to the traffic logjam within the city of onitsha itself thereby saving them many valuable hours of idling in traffic within the city.

This above is the FIRST MAIN REASON for the construction of the 2nd Niger bridge, the structural condition of the 1st Niger bridge is actually secondary and we igbos will like to set the records straight so that all agbad0rians will never bring up such shoddy topics for debate here again.

Island of Jersey gave an order that made the FGN to take the completion of the bridge project seriously.

There are numerous reasons why the coastal road shouldn't have been built at this time. Do not compare it with the 2nd Niger bridge, they both serve different functions and should never be put in the same basket in comparisons. undecided

The same SE led the opposition to give Lagos special status, today Tinubu regime is the one under whose regime SEDC is passed and a bill to create an additional state in the SE is on course.

Why do you get angry when development that concerns others are being mentioned

Tell me the reason.

2 nd Niger Bridge was built when Nigeria experienced 2 consecutive recessions and meaningless borrowing and printing of 20 trillion by way and mean.

Oga, did you read the reason I gave for the construction of the 2nd Niger bridge properly in the op before asking this question again? shocked

Plus, are you seriously trying to compare the condition of the nation and its economy back then during g GEJ's regime and now during your tilumbu's regime? undecided
