No African especially a Nigerian airport deemed fit by ICAO to be reckoned with as part of the world’s best. Humn! So much for development in Africa.

What you have at Abuja and Lagos is a train station in remote villages in most European countries. Read what CNN reporter said about the Lagos airport

I wonder when the FG (Federal Government) will remove beggars and scammers from our airports.
Here are my first 10 airport experiences in ascending order.

My first airport experience was at MMA2. I’d say it’s still the best airport in Nigeria, even though it’s local and small. It has a bustling vibe, probably because it’s managed by a private company, Bi-Courtney.

My second experience was at CBQ in Calabar. The airport has very limited activity due to fewer passengers. Landing and flying in CBQ was quite easy, with no beggars in sight.

My third experience was at ABV Abuja (local wing). It has a lot of potential. That was over 10 years ago, so a lot must have changed by now. The experience might even be better than the Bi-Courtney complex already.

My fourth experience was at the old local airport in Lagos, where Air Peace and Arik operate. This is the worst airport I’ve experienced to date. We had to sit on wooden benches, and the snacks sold there were like what you’d find under a bridge in Ajah. However, I was able to buy cheap Orijin Bitter.

My fifth experience was at Enugu Airport. I was told it’s international, but it doesn’t have any traces of being an international airport. Even the local section was struggling to survive. On the bright side, there were no beggars, and the cab drivers were quite sincere, offering rides at reasonable prices, unlike the thieving cab drivers in Lagos.

My sixth experience was at MMA International. This place isn’t fit to be called an international airport—it could make a good train or bus station if renovated.

My seventh experience was at DXB in Dubai. This airport is a wonder. It was my first international experience, and it was just too much—in a good way.

My eighth experience was at KAN in Kano. The airport gave off a rich Muslim/Aboki vibe—no one was dressed loudly, no ragged jeans or “big boy” outfits, just jalabias and Muslim ladies with head coverings. It had class.

My ninth experience was at ATL in Atlanta. It’s basically an upgraded version of MMA. Everything was chaotic—not the airport itself, but the people. The security and airport staff were far from friendly, speaking as if they had hot yam in their mouths. It didn’t meet my expectations for a U.S. airport.

My tenth experience was at Ilorin Airport. My advice: just shut it down. It’s not worth the stress.

Notable mention: My experience at Oslo Torp airport. It felt like a BRT bus station, yet it’s an international airport.
