REP MEMBER IN EXAM SCANDAL, Hires Aide To Write NABTEB Exams

Second term member of the House of Representatives, Chief Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejeocha who represents Umunneochi/ Isiukwuato Federal constituency of Abia state is the news again, this time over, the arrest of her Personal Assistant (PA), Chetachi Obi, who impersonated the lawmaker in the ongoing November/ December National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) examinations at Unique Comprehensive High School, Isuochi in Umunneochi local council of Abia state.

This is not the first time a high ranking Government official will be caught in an exam scandal. Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Tunde Ogunsakin and Director of Operation at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC was caught in a similar circumstances at the University of Abuja

A memo exclusively obtained by Pointblanknews.com and endorsed by the Varsity's registrar, M.B Modibo with reference number UA/R/GEN/50 disclosed that "the above named student(Tunde Ogunsakin-matric no.05251064) was alleged to have been involved in some form of examination malpractice during the 2005/2006 academic session."

However, Pointblanknews.com gathered that since the examinations commenced on November 10, 2011, Obi has been writing the papers daily for her boss. Sources revealed that the lawmaker’s photograph was embossed on the examination card, showing that she entered for the examinations and made arrangements for her aide to impersonate her.

Enquiries at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) revealed that the policemen acting on a tip off entered the school premises before Obi drove in with a Golf car allegedly bought for her by Onyejeocha. She was promptly arrested.

An Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Micloth confirmed the arrest to news men but said he was yet to be briefed. Obi and her accomplice were also yet to make statements as at the time of writing this report.

Pointblanknews.com investigation revealed that Chetachi Obi has been a long standing aide of the lawmaker. A resident of the constituency said he is at a loss on the issue as Onyejeocha, who chairs the House committee on Aviation, possess a master degree and wondered how she will be taking another O’ Level examination.

Efforts to reach the lawmaker did not yield fruit as she failed to pick her calls or reply text messages sent to her phone as at press time.
