Sanusi Lamido is something else.

A good President should not allow Sanusi to stay without being in the economy team of the country.

We have been having Olodo as Presidents in the democratic dispensation of this country.

That's why they say social media is a leveler. I wish people would learn to respectfully disagree with opinions they don't like.

The man got a PhD in Islamic studies. He was born into an islamic theological royal family, just like most africans, he is merely reinforcing what he grew up to know. There is nothing out of the box here.. No new addition to knowledge.

And for someone in public service, Islamic studies is not what a third world country like Nigeria needs to develop.

Here they come, the real "Olodos". Did you read his thesis? That is even assuming that you understood what you read.

Not sure why you are insulting this fellow.

Everything he said is true.

It's easier for someone who has been involved in Islamic studies for most of his adult life to get this PHD in ISLAMIC STUDIES.

So nobody needs to read the thesis just to be able to comment on the difficulty level or relevance to Nigeria of the topic.

I believe he should be congratulated but stop sounding like you are worshipping him after all some people are getting PHD in Physics and only dummies believe that ALL PHD's are equivalent in difficulty level or relevance.

I get your point about his familiarity with the subject but a PhD should be in a field you're deeply familiar with. It's a research in a field of knowledge to establish new knowledge or correct existing one and not to search for what's already known. So I don't think you're right to say there's no addition to knowledge. Knowledge has no end.

As for your claim about the usefulness of Islamic studies in a third world country, you might be right. But again, research is about interest not necessarily usefulness and Islam has a lot of issues in the third world countries that require re-education and research.

Hmmm....

Sanusi's thesis issue is some not too inexperienced people in a field assessing the head of that field.

He's an Islamic schorlar. What do you expect professors from a London University to do. Correct or reject him

This is a case like that Wole Soyinka and PhD. His books were already being used at PhD level at Leeds when he was studying for Matsers programs there.

What problem will PhD in Islamic law solve

What problem has Soyinka PhD solved in Nigeria?

Thank you bro,for reminding the OP,of the qualification of the category of the Sanusi Phd.
That is what a lamba of a Southerner can do!
You remember, how one Senator Nzeribe, was used as a cannon fodder,to scuttle a whole elections of June 12,1993by the Babangida, then,as if they were helping Nigeria.
In Nigeria, the Southerners are always ready to play a terrible role, possibly because they are looking for the goosebumps.
Very Shameful!

Nonsense overhype.
Let them celebrate their Islamic law achievement. It has no positive effect on the world's economy.

Anyway, wether with correction or without correction, the only mistake you can not correct is marrying a non virgin woman because she must have damaged your life beyond repair.

Once she's not a virgin, just fvck your part and let her go meet other fvckers.
Do not pay bride price, sponsor wedding ceremony and take care of in-laws just to have a woman who was fvcked by another man with just two eggs and indomie. Only a fool would do that. Are you the fool?

Finally, fvck any girl you want but when it comes to marriage, find a young virgin woman and marry. She kept herself, she deserves to be kept. Plus, only her can guarantee you a peaceful, happy lasting home.

Are you a virgin?

I disagree. Education does not make anyone unquestionable
A PhD does not mean you know all our you're right all the time
It simply means you carried out research and it was accepted in a scholarly environment as a work of scholarship
It does not confer omniscience

A PHD is awarded to someone who has contributed to the corpus of knowledge in a specific field. Its even better if you have operated in that area since you were born. My questions remain unanswered: did the poster read the man's thesis? Did hes/he understand what he read? He_She just ran to his keyboard to denigrate the Emir's achievement. That is my point.

Joe just used style to tell us how he got his PhD. Well, it's no mean feat, congrats!
For Sanusi, granted he's intelligent, he also has the means to hire experts for an impeccable academic job. Congrats to him.

Back to Joe, I don't know why he stressed 'steeeez' for his Cum Laude. There's Summa Cum Laude undecided

While I agree with the writer that PhD is not an easy task, I think getting emotional is optional and not as common as he's portraying it to be. My external examiner actually offered me a job in his institution because I wowed the board of examiners...but they don't even allow family members near Viva venue in my institution, nobody to look at and tear up cheesy

In my institution the first one is a private one, no family members, no friends, no foes just you, external examiner, supervisors and your PhD jury members, you send a soft copy of the final drafts weeks before the date of the private defence. They will drag you like generator and tear you like rag. When they are done you will be told whether you passed or not. If you pass you can go and make any minor changes required like simple edit if need be.

Then a date will be fixed for the public defence, then you can then print your thesis before hand. The public defence your family member friends and foes and anyone could attend. In the public defence you have to tone down your presentation for the general audience (unlike the private one in which your presentation was for experts in the field). Then questions will be asked by examiners and jury members and the public if they have any questions. Then the jury will leave and convene for 30 minutes and come back with their decisions and officially pronounced your award.

Re: Dr Joe Abah On Emir Sanusi’s Emotional PhD Achievement by lagonovo: 12:02pm On Aug 24
Nice one. Living without any purpose and looking for shortcuts while still seeking full reward is what I detest.

Staying a month with my IT professional/CIO uncle made me realize that some fields are totally insane yet many focus on the louder ones.

What some people go through at their own pace, to get some academic title, is the highly demanding daily life of some professionals and it comes with hard deadlines or else the organizations lose lots of money. They can't talk their way out of it with citations, they have to "engineer" a solution that works, that project must have a successful outcome or that issue must be resolved. High pressure almost always, and going through tons of technical documentations endlessly.

Regardless, everyone must keep moving - medical doctors, phd, m.phil, lawyers, engineers, developers, researchers, cybersecurity pros, teachers, farmers etc. All hands on deck.
