What is all these uproar about certificates from Togo and Cotonou? Is this our problem as a nation?

If certificate revalidation should start from the country, start with those issued by private varsities.

There is something wrong with a Varsity that issues 1st Class on demand. angry

So, in order to have a robust inter- regional relationship, government must permit illegal and unworthy certificates to be the norm?

Indeed, people with access to the media are some of the most stupid in Nigeria.

Paid groups coming up. Mind you it's not all universities in those countries that were banned. Those banned are not even officially recognised in their own countries and you want Nigeria to give them the official recognition. Imagine graduating students in just 3 years of little or no lectures. Tu fia kwa!
UK and other countries also graduate students in 3 years.
You should talk about illegal ones

If that is not enough to be a problem for us as a nation, what else should be?

Eskis sir, think well and deep about the impact and consequences.

They should investigate the ones who really run proper programs as they should. This sudden decision is going to affect a lot of people especially those working with their certificates already.

Do you think the present FG have brain? How would you just srap peoples certificate just like that, without even investigating...

If I'm the FG, I won't even disclose it openly, anybody who is working in the civil service with such certificate, I will just do background check on those certificate and if it found to be fake, the person will be jailed and even made to refund all the money he/she has recieved so far, no need disclosing it, that will teach alot of people who buy certificate a lesson...

I got a Nigeria based Beninoise babe studying currently in Benin Republic but because of the current situation on ground and in order to avoid story that touch, they've been told by the school authority that their final exams will be written in their school branch in Liberia which means their certificate will carry that of Liberia University instead of Benin Republic.

Imagine that stress.

It is not just the stress but also the illegality.

In my own experience, only a few universities in West Africa can actually match our standards, some of the universities, even in Ghana, use rented spaces for their programs...

Accra Institute of Technology in Ghana uses a rented plaza as their campus, it's even worse in Benin, Togo, Niger Republic and other countries, they have very poor standards. None of them can even compete with polytechnics in Nigeria, in terms of structure or programs, yet these people come back home after running bogus programs and participate in NYSC, yet we condemn those who went to polytechnics and certain universities back home.

Na scam.
Just visit those countries and you will understand. Their certified universities are purely French speaking with textbook and exams in french language.
If you go there to study French language, I will accept such certificate but studying any other course in English is likely a scam.
You will see a 5 story building as Private university in these countries.
A close friend in the country told me those fake schools are mostly owned by Nigerians.
Just a certificate selling buildings.
Meet any of those graduates and you will cry because they know nothing.
Same goes to some fake graduates in Nigeria.
Many nysc Members find it difficult to communicate purely in English. Always speaking pidgin English to cover their illiteracy.
Ask them to write a simple letter and you will weep.

The private nursing schools there come to Nigeria hospitals for clinical postings.
Etc

If an ordinary individual like me have such information, what do you think the government will know after doing their own investigations.

My brother, most people commenting do not know how disheartening the situation of those schools and the level are. The one with a five storeyed building sef even try. Some are on a plot of land offering courses including nursing.

But of course, Nigerians even in their ignorance will condemn any step taken by any government to address any abnormality.

All of you supporting this move against Benin Rupublic are just fools or haters.

Even in our federal universities, people do buy certs. Should they now close FUTO Or Unizik because some people bought cert from there?

Even that your University you're studying, do you think people don't buy certs there?

As corrupt as Nigeria, we still dey form discipline.

Some of those Benin graduates or certificate holders, are you smarter than them?

Are you just looking the building or the standard means of passing knowledge?

Between crowded and calm environment, which do you think is better to acquire knowledge?

So because it's five storey, they're not legit?

Can you beat the students in those schools that studies same course you did if debate is to be hold?

The problems is not the years. Some will just enroll and they will backdate it for you and print out your results in less than a month, some schools abroad is just 3years naaa. Even in this naija. Some people will enroll and will never appeared in lecture hall until graduation day, so what do you call that?, How do you explain a case where the stay abroad yet he or she is enrolled in school back home? I know it normal thing in naija. Making abnormal look normal is our way of life, the only thing is that Benin Republic own come loud pass small

it's not all institutions from those countries that will be affected. Rather, it's those certificates from dubious institutions that are not even accredited in the countries involved. Can you imagine a Nigeria that accepts qualifications from overseas countries who don't even recognise them?

Dr. Livings... where did you acquire your certificates from?

Well, I think the government has a case on this and the onus is on the governments of Benin & Togo to clean up thier education system first before they can be reconsidered for use in Nigeria.

Keep on spitting crap when we have graduates from Universities of Technology, Universities of Agriculture, Federal Universities, State Universities all wandering about without employment then because someone has all the connections in the world yet nothing upstairs failed Jamb repeatedly, decides to go to one quack, fake University in Benin, Togo, to buy certificate inorder to tender and gain employment since all Federal and State jobs have been reserved for the connected few. Nonsense! How will Buildings not continue to collapse rapidly in the country ? How do you expect progress when you favour incompetence ?
Re: Reconsider Invalidation Of Certificates From Benin, Togo Varsities - Group To FG by aylipple: 9:58am On Aug 27
Lol. A lame argument. The FG clearly stated that the affected universities aren’t even accredited in their own countries to offer degree programs but someone or a group wants to make an excuse for those who “earned” bachelor degrees from such institutions of higher learning.

Late last year, there was a case of LASU staff members selling certificates to students that didn't graduate or even attend the school.

Yet, no one uses that to accuse Nigerian universities or even LASU itself of selling certificates.

So why the hate against Benin and Togolese universities and their graduates? Do you have any certificate from Togo or Benin?

If there are lapses, speak to the schools and their government, and tell them to fix it. Once they do, we're all good. We should never discriminate against them.

So,having a plot of land for a university or a single five storeyed building has suddenly become the standard for a university in Nigeria or anywhere for that matter?

How did you come about the calm environment?

How easy is it for you to conclude that I can not hold a debate with you much less someone who attended a mushroom Uni?

Sentiment apart, is this what you wish to continue?

How glad will you be if you see same duplicated or replicated all over Nigeria?

As an employer, will you employ someone with a shady certificate?

Don't mind them. Nigeria is the one making life very very difficult for it's students joor. For example no University in Nigeria is currently having One Year Top Up Degree for HND Holders. Instead what they are doing is 2 Year Top Up programs. Making 6 years Academic work + I Year Post ND Industrial Attachment. Totalling 7 good years to earn just First Degree. Where is any sense in that? Where as Other countries tried to make life easy for their Citizens by offering the same Degrees in shorter years. Is that their fault?

Government should ignore this so called Consultant.

I know many Nigerians who graduated from Benin and Togolese universities who never stepped into the classrooms. Even some of them hold PhD.

FG should not Listen to this cheap Consultant.

I went to Cotonou to study after several attempt of writing jamb and didn't get the required mark to gain admission into a university in Nigeria,I had to go to cotonou. I graduated from d'abomey-Calavi.i studied linguistics and I was taught in both English and French. So not all the uni's in Cotonou are fake.cuz I spent 4yrs and 1yr extra to learn french fully, and yes I can defend my results.
