the law is specific on this issue, no grey area, If the cost of the house exceed the cost of the land, the cost of the land at time of building is returned to the wife.You can ask a Legal friend.

They will have 50/50% or as may be determined by Court based on proof of contribution. The are likely to sell it and share the proceed. No singular person can sell it among them

I have not seen a house documents,house invoice or receipt,the documents used to sell or prove ownership of house is the land agreement documents,so he who has the land is the owner of the house,how can you even prove in court that it is you that built the house,they will just slam a no trespass order on that guy,the house is lost,he can never claim the house again

Look at how you are spreading disinformation and people are liking your post because you are saying what they want to hear. There is no where in Nigerian Law that says this, under the law it is the person who purchased and has valid title to a landed property that is the owner of that property and everything on it, it doesn’t matter what was built on it, if a person can prove to the courts that he has valid titled documents to a property, then it’s his.

The court does not work based on emotions, only on facts and evidence placed before it. Now the parties in this case can work out an agreement themselves or head to dispute resolution but once it gets to court, it’s the person who purchased the land and can prove so with documents that is the owner. On the flip side,The man can as well demolish the property or they can agree to sell it and share the proceeds to avoid the matter getting to court.

The first question: Is the land considered a marital asset and if NOT, what was the agreement between the now-divorced couple before the husband built on the ex-wife's land? The answers will greatly impact how legally the court will decide the case. Legally, the property belongs to both parties unless proven otherwise. If the wife is laying sole claim to the property assuming she is the single owner of the land, she MUST reimburse the husband for the house he put on her land, and if the husband is laying claim solely, he MUST reimburse the wife.
