Andrew Wynne, the wanted Briton by the Nigeria Police for allegedly plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration has denied the allegation levelled against him.

Wynne, who spoke on Monday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today from United Kingdom, declaring that he was not aware he had been labelled a fugitive in Nigeria.

The comes a few hours after the Nigeria Police placed a N20m bounty on him along with a Nigerian, Lucky OObiyanb41 years old who has been described as an accomplice.

Addressing journalists on Monday, the Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, accused the Briton of building a network of sleeper cells to topple the government and plunge the nation into chaos.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wynee declared that he couldn’t have been scheming to destabilise the leadership of a country that accommodated him for 25 years.

In his word, “I am not aware that I am a fugitive. I am not aware that I am running away from the law. I have been visiting Nigeria for 25 years and have had a bookshop in the NLC office right in the centre of Abuja for seven years. All that time, of course, the security forces have paid no interest in me.

“I have always had one nationality. The name on my passport is Andrew Wynne and I operate with a nickname. I think it really started as differentiating in the sense of the broad political education work that I do with the bookshop.

“I am more than happy to talk to the police and have a discussion on WhatsApp or Zoom. I am more than happy to go to London and meet with officials from the Nigerian High Commission. If they want to start a conversation, then I think that is more than adequate.”

Also, Wynne’s wife (names withheld), who also spoke on the programme, distanced her husband from the alleged terror act, saying the allegation was deliberately concocted to witch-hunt him.

I can recall the last protests/riots in UK. When the dust cleared, the UK government said they will be going after protesters who rioted and those who nudged them on online on social media.

Governments around the world are beginning to look beyond those who join a riot or those who vandalize, theu are looking at those who provided tactical support, those who donated and those who encouraged them.

This man is being considered such and as much as he might be innocent, he will have to show that he did not do anything to encourage the protests which turned into rioting, looting and vandalization

That is how you people keep supporting rubbish because tribal and religious affiliation to people in power, just read what you wrote again and match it with what is happening in Nigeria and what is happening in the he UK, keep dishing out evil till it you get what you are looking for...

Government that doesn't want anyone to speak against their terrible reign. There shouldn't be a crime in supporting a peaceful protest.

Did Jonathan place bounty on Tinubu when he mobilized for occupy Nigeria? Now he has grown into a silly callous greedy wicked president. Who placed bounty on you when occupying Nigeria?

Then go and arrest those who bought bags of pure water for the protesters. Wicked leader. He can't put the country to shape, threatening people up and down. May you live to regret your ending in life.

This government keeps giving citizens reasons to hate it even more.
This is the most shameful and degrading time in our history to be called a Nigerian.
Imagine placing a bounty on this matter which we all know is political.
Let them keep chasing shadows...

The moment he land in Nigeria for talk na that time his journey to prison begins.
When Nigerian government tell you to submit yourself for investigation on matters like this they are simply saying submit yourself for imprisonment or execution. This is because APC government is acting a military leadership style and not a democratic leadership.

Since your government took over, it has been one nonsense after another and yet you guys find one way or another to justify their nonsense. I do not support looting and destruction but you and I know these people are simply looking for someone to blame for their own incompetence

What have we become as a people that we support any nonsense by the government by trying to rationalize it. What is wrong in calling for protests and protesting. Government should specifically go for people who call and participated in destruction and looting. And when did these acts become terrorism. What exactly is going on?

With kidnappers roaming free and bandits mocking tinubu on TikTok and pillaging military armoured vehicles, it is protesters that is now a priority.

If protesters is now the priority, why are u and the government not interested in the pro government and the paid anti protests protesters?

Should they not also be hunted down and arrested? Should the sponsors of pro government protesters not also be hunted down and arrested for money laundering and nudging people to protest?.

Is protest not protest? Why is one more special than the other?

If protest has become a crime in your view, should we not also ask that tinubu, Soyinka and bakare be arrested for their roles in the 2012 protests against Jonathan?

You must differentiate between riot and protest to make sense here. Protest is not a crime. Riot which includes perhaps arson, destruction of public or private properties etc is an offense. Then Nigeria police must establish that particular rioter that Briton sponsored to destroy public property etc in the FCT as alleged. Outside that, it's the usual talk by the police. How dumb can our police

So I guess the man is now an ipob?

I thought the police said the person they were looking that has a bookshop in NLC building was the person that destabilized Sudan.

Is it this line British citizen that destabilized Sudan?

How come he had been living in Nigeria all this while and Sudan never mentioned him as the person that destabilized Sudan?

You people really deserve your govt . Just listen yourself. Which part of that protest was not deserved? Now you support tyranny and gagging the masses from expressing their dissatisfaction with a govt that has made life unbearable for them.
I wonder what your position would have been if goodluck arrested tinubu for staging a needles protest against his govt.

Why isn't there such violent hardship protest in Japan or Singapore?

Why is it that it is Britain/UK that colonised your country and laid the foundation for all the negative things Nigeria is experiencing today that you now take inspiration from to justify a repressive government operating in a so-called democracy?

It's such a shame that your intellect is deployed towards defending an act of intimidation and oppression by Tinubu's corrupt and incompetent government.
