Ajaero Invited Over Ties with Briton ‘Funding Terrorism’ —Police gossipnaija.ngSep 2, 2024 8:10 PM The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed that Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), was recently invited for questioning due to alleged connections with Andrew Wynne, a British national who has been declared wanted for financing terrorism and plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government. Speaking to journalists on Monday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the NPF, revealed that Wynne, along with Ehis Obinyan, a Nigerian associate, is accused of using the NLC headquarters in Abuja as a base for subversive activities. Wynne reportedly rented space at the NLC’s Labour House to operate the Iva Valley Bookshop and established Stars of Nations Schools, which Adejobi described as fronts for his alleged activities. “The invitation extended to certain individuals within the NLC leadership has nothing to do with rights advocacy and activities of the union’s leadership,” Adejobi clarified. “It was aimed at investigating the relationship between these individuals and Andrew Wynne, who, in addition to plotting unconstitutional regime change, is also financing terrorism in Nigeria.” Adejobi stressed that the police investigation is focused on Wynne’s network and its potential threat to Nigeria’s national security. “No nation will tolerate attempts by foreign elements to interfere in its internal affairs, threaten national security, and organize and fund local elements to instigate uprisings aimed at destabilizing the country and engendering violent and unconstitutional regime change,” he stated. This development follows an earlier raid on the NLC headquarters by police officers on August 7, 2024, during which the operatives reportedly searched for seditious materials related to the #EndBadGovernance protests. These protests, which occurred from August 1-10, were in response to widespread economic hardship in the country. On August 20, 2024, the police formally invited Ajaero for questioning, but he requested that the meeting be rescheduled to August 29. Ajaero, accompanied by renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, subsequently honored the police invitation on the rescheduled date. The police have since extended their investigation, requesting that Ajaero and Emmanuel Ugboaja, the NLC’s general secretary, appear for further questioning on Thursday, September 5, 2024. The situation underscores growing concerns about external influences on Nigeria’s internal security and the ongoing efforts by the authorities to address perceived threats to the nation’s stability. |

If he is innocent the whole world will see. He must never drag nlc or Nigerians into his personal problems. If he has a case to answer then what his he afraid of. After all the government has no issues with Nigerian workers has fg have responded to workers call for a salary increase which is already being implemented. So I see no cause for alarm. 1 Like |
