Nigeria, China Sign Nuclear Energy Pact by malali: 12:28am On Sep 04
Nigeria and China will strengthen ties through a new nuclear energy partnership, a government spokesperson said on Tuesday.

At the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing, both nations signed a comprehensive agreement to enhance collaboration in the Belt and Road Initiative, human resource development, and nuclear energy. The alliance is expected to bolster development, stability, and security in the West African sub-region.
Nigeria has been discussing the creation of its own nuclear energy industry for more than a decade.

China, Nigeria’s largest bilateral lender, has already invested heavily in the country’s infrastructure, with $5 billion in loans at the end of March 2024. The partnership between the two countries has included critical projects, including a deep sea port and extensive rail lines under the Belt and Road Initiative since their cooperation intensified in 2018.

President Bola Tinubu, who attended the summit alongside leaders from 50 African nations, highlighted the potential for this strategic partnership to drive growth not only in Nigeria but also across Africa, emphasizing the importance of stability and security.

Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that the enhanced strategic coordination between China and Nigeria would inject fresh momentum into China-Africa relations and promote collective progress among Global South countries.
During his visit, President Tinubu toured the Huawei Research lab, securing a commitment from the tech giant to establish a joint solar PV test lab in Nigeria. Another Chinese company pledged to build an assembly plant for electric tricycles and train Nigerians in technology and renewable energy development.

This agreement comes as China is poised to embark on a record-breaking nuclear expansion that will see it build more nuclear power plants than any other country in the world in what will make it the world’s biggest nuclear generator by 2030. For Nigeria, the partnership offers a promising avenue for advancing its own energy infrastructure and sustainable development goals.

WOW, THIS IS EARTH-SHAKING.

The west are looking on very nervously as traditionally pro-western Nigeria not only enters into a STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH CHINA, as announced today by President Xi Jinping, but is also COOPERATING IN NUCLEAR POWER AND ENERGY DEVELOPMENT with CHINA..

Hmmm.....Times are shifting indeed. wink

For Tinubu to sign it means it will never favour Nigerians.

Anything he touches turns out against Nigerians.

China don see Nigeria leaders finish. Did buhari not sign agreements with China and France on nuclear energy? What was the outcome? Nothing. Nation that cannot supply gas to numerous gas powered plant wants to go nuclear. Nation that cannot fix refinery, roads wants to go nuclear.

This is how politicians loot and get away with so much impunity in Nigeria, when the country is full of retarded morons like the poster below.

Nuclear reactors, since 1970?? Lol...hallucination!!. Pls post the source and lets see.

Anyone reading this will think that she meant nuclear reactor power plants not knowing that it is one small wooden box kept in one corner of a physics laboratory in ABU named NIRR-1. It is what was left after a joint research project with China Institute of Atomic Research and in 2018, after they finished the research studies, China took away all the critical elements of the research, leaving only near empty boxes and irrelvelant components. The Nigerian government, in their characteristic stupidity, set up a whole agency/parastal full of people who collect salaries(same as the Nigerian space and satellite Agency in Abuja) doing nothing other than look after empty wooden crates or boxes that China had taken the main components away since Dec 2018.

I'm sure the buffon either works there or has someone who just sits idle there collecting salaries on behalf of the policticians and she is so daft to publicly exhibit her lack of intelligence on what she knew very little about thinking everyone on nairaland is a dimwit like them or in their circle. She miscalculated on this.

Nigeria will never....i repeat, NEVER get out of these problems with daft and half educated morons like the poster below, as citizens.

He better not go and use igbo area nuclear to do fraudulent activities like advance fee fraud. We all know that okp*lor eyes and corruption, is nothing more than 1a and 1b.

Leave the igbo area resources alone. igbo areas of SE and SS.

Chinese, don't go and approve fraudulent deals, acting like you didn't know. When the igbos take over their areas, most of okp*lor eyes deals wlll be null and void.

Advice to Nigeria leaders .

Most developed countries don’t want developing countries to develop because their feeding bottles will be taken away and their power challenged .

Nigeria power grid collapsing might be caused either by structural deficiencies or by attacks (cyber or not cyber) .

Always remember STUXNET that was injected into Iranian nuclear project .

Enhance local security to protect against foreign interferences ,no one will love Nigeria more than Nigerians .
