The man returned from China (where he lived) and picked his car from the sister's house in Onitsha only to be found dead later in a gutter.

Nigeria police has failed.

Nigeria has failed.

With state police, the killers would soon be caught.

How is state police going to be better than federal police in cases like this? State police under the present structures will be hijacked by the politicians. Look at what Hope Uzodimma is doing with his ebubeagu in imo state

Ignorant comment, state police will fish out this criminals immediately. The federal police has already abandoned the case because its local and they don't have the manpower to continue it. And it will continue to happen.

You only look at the projected possible positives of state police. I am talking of the realities on ground. When you look at some of these security institutions created by these states and regions, vis a vis the politicians and the politics that created the outfits, can you truly say that they're performing so outstandingly different from the present federal police force?

Ebube Agu is far more brutal and ruthless in fighting the political opposition of the governors in the states where they are operate. In Imo, during their raids with the army and the police, most of the extra judicial killings were done by them. It got so worse that the people became far worried about them than the do the army. That is not progress.

My thinking is that unless something fundamentally different is done in terms of how the so called state police personnels are recruited, trained and organised, they might even be worse than the federal police. Benue state has a state security outfit, yet fulani has been butchering them for fun.

There is no state police, ebubeagu is being set up by federal police. Stop comparing what is not on ground. There is no state police yet.

You will never get a state police that is totally independent of any sort of federal oversight in Nigeria. Especially, in the south. Heck, do you even know why the federal police stations and baracks look like pigstys in Nigeria? It all started with the military regimes, who were desperate to cut the police to size in other to make sure that they amount to nothing significant, and of no challenge, say during coups.

If the real powers could treat the almighty federal police with such levity uptil this day, from where do you get the assurance that state police will operate with enough independence to be that effective? The talk about state police is an unnecessary distraction. Whichever way ypu spin it, under the current arrangements, state police would be answerable to our local despots, aka governors. We should be talking about real regionalism. If the regions decide to form their police networks then, so be it.

They person that killed this man, might be owning and doesn't want the man to keep disturbing him and asking for his money, then they killed him

At this juncture, o am confused, I had to look back from our conversation history to see if you're arguing about how we can stop crime or if you're arguing how we should allow crime to thrive because we will never find a solution to it?
