Oakenshield:No wonder, you and your family have next to nothing to offer Africa than complaint. You are not thinking of what you can do for Africa, but what Africa can do for you. You are majorly a liability on Africa that wholely dependent on salary, minimum wage and strike. Is Elon musk, you were because of him abusing Africa collecting salary? Is Elon musk looking for salary his country can pay him or what impact he can give to his country and the world at large? Apart from you are a liability and a consuming individual that is dependent on milking Africa, you can't point any positive impact you and your family have contributed to Africa than always expecting Africa to give you arrears and salary, right? If Dangote is also on level 17 or 12 today, we wouldn't be talking about his impact to Africa. Can you count how many people in Africa that Dangote is feeding in terms of employment? You are only milking Africa via salary, thereby becoming a liability on Africa and yet you are complaining and pointing fingers for others Africans to do what you can't do for yourself. You are still very ungrateful to Africa despite you are creating liability for Africa and just milking Africa resources in form of monthly emolument without making any serious positive contribution than to fight for minimum wage and strike. You are very ungrateful to Africa. Change your mentality, and complaint less about leaders and Africa. If you think those leaders are not doing well, resign from your salary jobs and go and join politics so you can make that positive impacts you think those that are there are not making. After all, life is full of risk; resign your job, go and join politics or other areas you think you will contribute better to Africa than milking africa 2 Likes |

Everyday247:The problem I have noticed with people who are not history inclined like you is to think life revolves around your era and those that lived in the past were scrambling for survival. Which poor man today has access to the kind of palace and gold and other precious metals Solomon has in his time. Quality wines, most beautiful women in that era which one is reputed as been one of the most lady the world has ever seen till date. Cleopatra of Egypt. Every generation has ways by which they enjoy their lives and it is all about it having the best at that point in time. So, how can you compare the quality of life of a poor man living today that don't know where his next meal will come from or having access to good health benefits to someone that enjoys the finest things of life in his days to live a productive life that made you hear about them thousands or hundred of years after they might gone. 1 Like |

Baldwretch:Not really, An absolutely powerful king may enjoy unbounded power for the short run but in the long run they will eventually get bored. There's a reason that YouTube, DStv, Netflix etc come with different channels. This is because doing the exact same thing for a long time leads to boredom. Let's compare an absolutely powerful king to an average day person. An absolutely powerful king only has few forms of entertainment: 1. Getting people to fight against themselves (gladiators). 2. Enacting plays of famous events 3. Hiring performers to perform circus acts for them. *Note that these powerful kings did not have access to their entertainment at any time they wanted I.e They could not wake up in the middle of the night to enjoy these things. On the other hand, modern average man has access to many forms of entertainment: 1. Tv/videos e.g Movies/Series, music, video games, sports, reality shows, documentaries, News. E.t.c 2. Live events such as amusement parks, concerts, vacation resorts, sports events (If you decide to go to the venue) e.t.c 3. Social Media. The modern man has a larger variety of entertainment to choose from even a poor man who has access to only an old smartphone has more options and more quality entertainment than ancient absolutely powerful kings. And best of all they can access these entertainment anytime! |

hilaryCU:E be like say you believe all those things you watch in Hollywood movies. Most of what you see on tv has been refined for a modern audience. You mentioned precious metals, but forgot that they are only useful if you can trade it for something useful. For instance if someone gave you a choice to choose between riding around in a golden chariot or an old Honda Civic for the rest of your life (you can't sell the golden chariot BTW) which would you choose? Which is more comfortable? Gold and silver are only shinny things that look pretty with no practical uses. About the Cleopatra part, I hope you're not confusing real life Cleopatra to movie Cleopatra? Don't you know that it takes a lot of grooming to make modern women look the way they do? There's a billion dollar cosmetic industry dedicated to making modern women look the way they do today. For example ancient women did not bathe often which means they were smelly, they did not shave often which means they were hairy, they did not have good oral hygiene which means they had smelly breath, they did did not have good skin care knowledge which meant rough skin fill with scars (korokoro). They covered their bodies with deadly chemicals such as lead because it was their form of make up. Also the beauty standards at that time were chubby/fat women as it was seen as a symbol of wealth. I've said too much, just go and browse "Ancient beauty standards". You also spoke of foods and wines. Are you aware that ancient civilisations did not have varieties of foods and drinks that we have today? If you go to an average provision store you'll find things like butter, mayonnaise, biscuits, varieties of fruit juice, varieties of flavoured milk. We also have fried foods which Solomon probably did not have. There are many things that you enjoy everyday that you take for granted. Even the common paracetamol we take everyday would have been hot cakes in ancient times as all they had were dubious cures rumoured to cure every ailment including beheading. Hollywood only refurbishes ancient history to make them presentable to a modern audience. So when they say Cleopatra was beautiful they bring a modern super model to play the part. When they say ancient kings had a feast they bring a modern chef to prepare a modern feast. When they say that ancient civilisations had beautiful cities they bring a modern fantasy artist to design a modernised version of ancient cities. |

Oakenshield:How do we know who is good and who is not good? If you know any of your family members that is good and can do better, tell him to context and come to hot sit for examination. To me you are worse than the leaders you are accusing, your manner of reasoning has shown that. Since you it seems you are the only one that identify good leader, show us one from your family that can turn Nigeria to America in four years. You think ruling as a leader is by mere talking |

Everyday247: Yeah, I would admit that the monotony of having to repeat the same thing again and again is a big negative, but there might be forms of entertainment that we are not privy to. Entertainment is as complex as human behaviour. We would need a time machine to see how the ancients actually enjoyed themselves because public libraries or google would be of little assistance. They did not have varieties like we do, but even then, what passes for entertainment to you might not be so much to me or to another person. I might prefer the less refined aspect of it; I might only get entertained by the outdoors; or by certain sports that has been around since medieval times like archery, golf, and the likes, but overall, yeah, I agree with you and that is why from the onset, I said you're partially right. |
Re: Elon Musk Is On Track To Become The World's First TRILLIONAIRE By 2027 by Everyday247: 6:48am On Sep 12 |
Baldwretch:I'm not saying that they didn't have good entertainment. I'm saying that ours is waaaaay better than theirs. Also I'm not talking about subjectivity, I'm talking about varieties, we simply have more options than them. If someone wants to pick and choose what kind of entertainment they want to enjoy, they'll have more options today than in those days. |
