Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved two days off duty per week for officers on Grade Level 01-14, while officers on Grade Level 15-17 are to maintain one day off duty per week.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Oladipupo Ogunfowora, on Wednesday.

Ogunfowora said the gesture was to ameliorate the impact on transportation costs and the burden on public servants, who were experiencing more significant challenges commuting to work.

The statement described Governor Abiodun as highly committed to the welfare of workers and urged all accounting officers to immediately implement the policy in their respective MDAs by working out modalities to ensure that the day off system is scheduled in such a way that service delivery is not compromised.

Ogunfowora noted that Governor Abiodun had, in July 2023, introduced the one day off work policy for all grade levels, adding that the current extension to two days off work for GL 01-14 is to further reduce the financial burden on workers and increase productivity.

The statement reads: “In providing further succor to the teeming workforce in the Ogun State Public Service following the upward review of the pump price of petrol and the attendant impact on transportation costs and the general standard of living, the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has graciously approved two days off duty per week for officers on Grade Level 01-14, while officers on Grade Level 15-17 are to maintain one day off duty per week.

“This gesture is aimed at further ameliorating the burden on public servants who now face more significant challenges commuting to work, with the hope of bringing substantial relief to them and also enhancing their service delivery through a more motivated and energized workforce.

“All accounting officers are to immediately implement this policy initiative in their respective MDAs accordingly and are expected to work out modalities to ensure that the day off of their staff is scheduled in such a way that service delivery is not compromised.

“In addition, appropriate monitoring mechanisms should be put in place to ensure strict compliance.”

The Post COVID-19 era

It's best to get a remote job this season and get paid in Dollars... Remotask is a good platform to earn.

will this affect school teachers too ?

I'll love to get the reply to this your very important question... Also, those in the medical field

They must have a lot of teachers to be able to cover up when some are on compulsory sit-at-home, or will schools also close for two days?

Re: Hike In Fuel Price: Ogun Approves Two Days Off For Public Servant by Feldie: 3:12pm On Sep 12
Killing off the country and the economy. Instead of government to be encouraging productivity, they are instead encouraging loafing. If everyone else take two days off, what will you eat or drink? Why not make fuel affordable instead of this?
