Marketers are running away because of Naira low value. If we go by former exchange rate, fuel price should be around N300 to N450 per litre now without subsidy.
Why in the world would you even concern yourself with this former exchange rate? Was the crude oil, and every other input, used in producing the fuel bought at this former exchange rate you concern yourself with? Are Nigerians to pay their 7.5% tax when buying fuel by the former exchange rate as well? Sheeeesh! undecided

NIgerians do not want to pay market price for petrol....that is why we are having all this long grammer about Dangote doing emotional blackmail.

The thing is, Tinubu's government does not want to admit that they have been paying subsidy and they have to remove it for petrol to flow. Because it means prices go up, and their chances of winning in 2027 go away.

Nigerians as a whole do not want cheap fuel to end. There are the subsidy cabals, the smugglers, and most poor Nigerians.

Infact, subsidy is one of the few things the elite and the poor agree on. It benefits both of them...at the expense of economic progress and development of a domestic refining capacity.

Cheap fuel is what isdriving this whole thing. No Nigerian wants to pay N1500 for a liter of fuel, as it means that the subsidy is truly gone. But attempting to keep fuel cheap is hurting NNPC, who right now are scraping the barrel to pay for it. Their barrels, not the government. And they are at a point where they cannot keep scraping the barrel.

Subsidy should go. It's time to end the five decade old charade. But I know Nigerians...we would sacrifice our economy to Molech rather than do the sane and right thing. After all, we want N20 FUEL.
In as much as I agree with you, I want to add that, the foundation of all of these challenges is endemic corruption. We wouldn't be talking about subsidy if policians and people in government have not embezzled our common wealth, impoverishing the majority. The purchasing power of the masses would not be this weak if not because of the criminal acts of corruption. Head or tail, this government is in deep problems itself, especially their second term ambitions. So, it is a headache for them as you rightly said. It is a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea. For the masses, remove the subsidy let politicians feed fat on the gains and the masses continue to suffer more or continue with the subsidy at the detriment of the economy. For the politicians, keep the subsidy and remain a bit good in the books of the masses, or remove it and have hard times to continue in power

You're still thinking about what's right and what's wrong. The sooner you understand that this country is a business centre - and the Fed. govt. is the major shareholder - the better for you.

Pre-Buhari era is far. I'm talking about the four last tenure of the outgoing govt.

I don't really understand your, but ask yourself why marketers have been lamenting over landing cost.

Ask APC govt.

Judging by the recent statements from IPMAN and NNPC, its obvious that Dangote is playing an Hanky-Panky game of setting everybody up against each other, while using the emotional blackmailing tactics to win the masses to his side and still use their sympathy to fix PMS at a high price

Dangote has reached out to everyone one, yet he still hasnt make his price known during the process

Why then did nnpc insist on being the sole buyer of dangote fuel?

He is right,i hav been a supporter of dangote wit no regrets frm d beginning especially wen he was denied crude. However,je has started petrol production now n he has never for once mentioned d price he is willing to sell to nnpc or marketers. Also, recently his manager said their diesel was boycotted....in naija there is no subsidy on diesel that's why it has always been significantly more expensive than petrol.
How can marketers not patronize ur diesel if d price is lower than landing price of same diesel to naija.
It makes no sense here..

The reason the government easily deceive and scam many of u with lies, they send all manners of people to social media to write all manner of rubbish to support their criminal acts
This same man had been selling diesel and jet A1 from his refinery for months now we didn't hear this story, why because diesel and aviation fuel has been deregulated,he want to start selling petrol now we dey hear all manner of stories because petrol is being subsidized and they want the subsidy scam to continue.the same NNPCL who have been opaque and not transparent to Nigerians all the years they have been importing fuel, now playing all manner of games because the local refinery doesn't belong to them and every kobo of sale and refined products can be accounted for, hence the tricks and corrupt practices will be exposed and buried by Dangote refinery.
Does common sense not tell us why NNPCL choose to continue to import petrol for over 30yrs and having spent over 20 billion dollars for turn around maintenance yet no refined product coming out of the government refinery?
And besides why do u think NNPCL want to have a permanent office stationed inside DANGOTE REFINERY?

Who want the subsidy scam to continue? Nigerians who don’t want to buy PMS at the actual market price or NNPC that told Dangote to sell directly to marketers on a willing buyer and seller basis?

Summary of the whole thing:

Dangote wants to sell at a reduced price but government doesn't want him to do so.
Re: Dangote Refinery Playing Emotional Blackmail, Nigerians Swallowing It – Adeoti by F117nighthawk: 5:39pm On Sep 13
Which NNPC told the marketers to buy
at what price?
Same NNPC that want to control price at which Dangote will sell to continue their subsidy scam?why have they not agreed on a price since over a week that NNPC increase local price?why did NNPC request the have an office for their officials at Dangote refinery?so na this NNPC that has been a problem and lack transparency for many years you want to trust or believe their words? Why didn't they have issues on diesel selling at Dangote refinery because that has been deregulated

if FG is not trying to sabotage Dangote why creat artificial scarcity and hike pump price just when dangote was ready to roll out fuel
,Did NNPC not libel dangote fuel inferior , did Nnpc not renege on shares agreement

Asides NNPC widely spread landing cost, any credible verification, considering NNpc antecedence can NNPC be trusted

Is it not ridiculous that NNPC that could not operate it own four refineries is giving dangote condition to oversea its operation

The news that broke out that major oil importers wrote to the president that dangote crashing the diesel price is counter productive and not favourable to them is enough hint NNPC is the enemy of Nigerians.

NNPC insisting to have staffs in Dangote office reeks of a trojan horse strategy an attempt to either cover there tracks or distabilize dangote from inside
Dangote crashed diesel to 900 who needs hanky panky

If dangote tells the public how much he's selling his fuel it will be game over for NNPCL... undecided

This assertion flies in the face of logic. If the Dangote is serious and honest, let him sell to neighbouring countries. From there, we would see if his PMS will be cheap. Infact, if he sells cheaper fuel to Benin Republic for instance, we should witness a situation where the smuggling of subsidized fuel from Nigeria would cease.

How did he crash the price to Naira 900 when the NNPC price of Petrol is currently Naira 858.00? 🤔

By the way, Dangote has yet to publicly announce any price to this moment we speak. 🤔

If your product is better and/or cheaper, why would marketers prefer to import instead? There's something they're not telling us.

ALOL ! is it difficult to figure ..there is so much secrecy and cost padding around importation nobody knows

landing cost is whatever NNPC says it is, despite issuing license they ensure nobody import, just so they enjoy secrecy

I totally agree with you.

I knew Dangote was playing the emotional game when he presented his transparent petrol in a bottle because every petrol is actually transparent at the time of refining but was dyed to give it that colour. Dye and odour are usually added to most liquids that come out looking like water. this is done to prevent humans from accidentally swallowing the dangerous fluids.

Petrol from Dangote refinery must be dyed as that is an international regulation and there is no amount of emotional blackmail that will exempt him from dying his own petrol too.

i cant believe any sane person will pick side with an enterprise that owns four refinery and cant even revive one to work,

Dangote owes no one fuel price. Let those who have bought from him be asked how much they got it from him. The same way they announced that landing cost of PMS is N1117, they should annoumce what Dangote is selling for?

Flesh and blood did not reveal thus secret to you but the holy spirit. Refinery business around the world is not a profitable business, unless of course you secure a source of cheap crude, either by stealing or other underhand tactics.
Why dangote decided to pump in billion of dollars into the refinery business instead of other more profitable and less volatile business is a mystery to me.
You must be very smart, running financial models of these processes is what I do for a living. Infact, revealing these tips is a disservice, you can’t resist the urge attimes.

After reading all the post on this thread, I’m made to believe that we don’t really know what’s happening in this country.

Forget the monopoly and government support enjoyed by Dangote over the years. The problem we are faced with right now is how the present government wants to keep generating revenue from petroleum sales to its citizens.

You're not outrightly correct. Dangote is the one who wants just the NNPC to be its sole offtaker. And NNPC have made it clear they do not have the intention to be Dangote's sole offtaker. Just as I wonder, is it not supposed to be an open market? Why forcing just one business entity to be your sole distributor? Is that not monopoly. NNPC have declared that Dangote should sell to others that they do not have the intention of being its sole distributor.
Furthermore, even the Independent Marketers declared interest to buy from Dangote if its petrol price is lower than NNPC's imported petrol but Dangote is contradicting himself by saying Independent Marketers are not buying from him though his price is relatively cheaper.
What sort of contradiction is that?
Dangote is indeed playing emotional blackmail. Take it or leave it

We all deduced that PMS ought to be cheap if produced locally. Everyone is fighting to make sure the price is pushed as high as possible to keep the revenue coming.

For me, the government is the one blackmailing Dangote. Why would NNPCL want to be the sole distributor of a locally produced PMS? Just to keep the price bondage going.

Dangote said NNPCL will fix price. That tells a lot.

Let’s keep pretending like the people we have in the helms of affairs actually have the interest of the masses at heart.

We claim to be so intelligent, but we are often deceived by unintelligent lies.

Try to try to be honest!

You are blaming payment of subsidies for non-functional refineries when there have been various rounds of turn around maintenance that ended up turning nothing around despite the multi-billions that went into these activities. How much more do they need? This is aside the billions that go into salaries and emolument for non functional facitlites. You gotta tell yourself the truth. You are saying that the refineries will work if we are made to pay N1500 per liter? Please tell yourself the truth.
