they both have strong smells when they are being cooked and have a different taste from and are healthier than normal
white rice.

i think basmati is more versatile though,

Ofada Rice is the short, robust and brown rice planted mostly in Ogun State and some other states in western Nigeria.  It is identified with brown stripes because it is unpolished.

When cooked, it emits the unique Ofada Rice aroma that is often the first attraction.

Ofada Rice is very different from other rice.  It is unpolished rice , and non-genetically modified.

Re: vs by TOYOSI20(f): 11:57pm On Aug 27, 2008
Whichever one that isn't full of stones undecided
Re: vs by tpia: 9:07pm On Aug 28, 2008
Some types of ofada are very tasty if well cleaned.

Basmati is fragrant and aromatic, but lighter than ofada, imo.

They're both good. However, basmati can be used to "impress".

Re: vs by mona83(f): 3:02pm On Sep 16, 2008
Basmati all the way,

First of all, it tastes so good, you can almost eat it alone.

Second, it has aesthetic value- in that it is soooooooooooo white and the grains are always separate.

Third, you can eat it with a variety of sauces- from continentals like gravy, casserole, shredded beef-n-green pepper sauce
, to our own Èfó- rírò.

Fourth, it has NO stones, so your gall bladder and colon are safe.

I find this forum very interesting cos i am passionate grin about food.
