The First Bible Chapter I Recited As A Kid

It was Psalms 1.

This was thanks to a youth pastor taking the children's department of the church at the time, who promised to gift any one of us that was able to recite Psalm 1 for him the next Sunday.

That compelled me as a kid to devout much time and effort to studying Psalm 1 throughout the week, so when the time came, I was able to successfully recite the full chapter before the pastor and the whole audience.

Of course, I consequently received a gift from the pastor as promised, however perhaps a greater gift was the indelible lesson that particular chapter taught me, because that was how I first got to know about the importance of walking in righteousness and obedience to God and what it means to be truly blessed.

I strongly believe that was actual aim of the youth pastor - not just to make us not just recite the chapter, but also thereby inculcate the ways and righteous paths of the Lord into our hearts while we were yet little kids, so it would help to guide us in life even as we grew older, and that good seed he sowed in my life is still bearing fruits up til this very day.

May God bless that youth pastor wherever he is right now. Amen!

For me it was Psalms 1, to many others, it seems to be Psalms 23, including this 2-year old baby who recited the full chapter to my utter astonishment:

It makes so much sense to train up little children with such knowledge, and the earlier it is, even the better, as when they were older, it shall not depart from them. Proverbs 22:6

Impressive op, you remember days from your childhood. As far as I'm concerned, i was born 6 years old. My life began at 6. I don't think that i was ever 1 year old at any point in time. tongue

You experienced "infantile amnesia", a universal experience in which most individuals do not remember events from the early stages of their lives, typically before the age of five. This natural occurrence has led education experts to recommend that children start primary education around the age of six. By doing so, it reduces the risk of building a flawed educational foundation due to the memory loss associated with infantile amnesia. However, many parents may be eager for their children to complete their schooling at a younger age, potentially starting university at 15 or 16 years old. This accelerated pace can have significant implications on the child's overall development and well-being.

But the reality on the ground is that "ungodly" people like Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, etc sits on top of the blessings promised the "Godly" in your book. How ironic?

AcTUally, their blessing is in Heaven, that is, after they have suffered and endured all kinds of manipulation and deprivity

Beloveth, let us love one another, for God is love and anybody that loves is born of God and knoweth God, He that loveth not, knoweth not that God is love. 1st John 4:7-8

People say every cloud has a silver lining and there's a blessing in disappointment. Trials can turn into triumphs, stumbling blocks can be turned to stepping stones, you may travail to prevail, the people laughing at you are laughing with you soon. God will turn things around in your favour.

I encourage you to watch this video posted by a nairalander to gain insight into how God is a table turner.

Psalm 121 beginning to end and it's really helping me to go through this life knowing that help comes from God alone. In this life I don't hope on any man to help me, whenever I need help I pray to God for help and He'll send help by any means He likes, though many atimes it's through man.

I find this funny because I am just reading this book: Sapients by Yuval Noah Harari, and he said somewhere that "you cannot convince a monkey to give you a banana" but you can convince a human being to pay his/her tithes and make donations, then reap the reward is in heaven. How ironic!!
LOL
