...... Laud governor Abiodun for release of 5.3 billion naira gratuity The Ogun State chapter of Nigeria Union of Pensioners has appealed to the state government to approve the consequential Increase in Pensions of the longstanding retirees in line with the 2019 Federal Government Circular on Consequential Adjustment of Pensions. In a statement jointly signed the Chairman, Comrade Waheed Oloyede and Secretary of the Union, Dr Bola Lawal described the sum being received by Pensioners in the state as grossly inappropriate to meet their needs especially in buying required drugs for their various health challenges. The Union also appealed to the state government to consider the inclusion of Pensioners at the ongoing negotiation on the New National wage Increase to enable members to be at the same pedestal with the recent retirees in consonance with the Federal Government directive. The Pensioners however commended governor Dapo Abiodun for the approval and release of 5 point 3 billion naira gratuity payments to members of the Union in the State to reduce the backlog of accrued gratuities They described the governor's gesture as remarkable and a true testimony of his sincerity of purpose and of deep sense of consideration towards the Elderly who have over years denied of their entitlements. The Pensioners also used the occasion to renew their dedication, commitment and unwavering support to the presentation administration in the state. |
