The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has replied former president, Goodluck Jonathan, that he sacked him as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, contrary to the latter’s claim that he was only suspended for investigation into alleged missing $49.8 billion.

The monarch was responding to Jonathan who had, earlier, at the launch of a book “Public Policy and Agents Interests: Perspectives From The Emerging World,” debunked a claim by him that he was booted out of CBN’s leadership position because he exposed corruption allegedly perpetrated by the government.

Sanusi co-authored the book written by Dr Shamshudeen Usman, who served as Minister of Planning in the Jonathan administration.

Sanusi, who took to the podium hours after Jonathan’s comment, insisted that he was sacked by the former president.

My boss who sacked me, I was constructively dismissed. I continue to respect Jonathan and I don’t have grudges against anyone,” he said.

Sanusi, the CBN Governor who doesn't know the difference between turnover and profit. The man who presented the presumed daily sale of crude oil of 2.1 million barrels multiplied by the prevailing crude price and expected total remittance by quoting the $20 billion deficit as missing without asking NNPC for the cost of operation and reconciling with the Finance Minister.

Truly, Sanusi has his good side, but he also enjoys being a controversial figure. Nobody enjoys working with such people. I would sack him if I were the president too. Every time, he was talking about missing billions while he went about sharing money in Kano.

Na their wahala. The purpose for which SLS spited Jonathan later became evident. It was to usher in buhari, a northern fulaniman. Everybody used their tools to deal with Jonathan, including religious and ethnic war. They've failed to realise that only God puts one in positions, not by force else, your office won't see batter days.

After they hijacked power, they now set Nigeria backwards by 50 years. A lot of people can't ride cars anymore, many homes now use firewood to cook, they now beg to eat, the masses' quality of life had reduced so much. Homes now buy lantern to light up their rooms cos electricity tariff is crazy. All these were experiences and scenarios of the pre-independence era, over 60 years ago.

While tinubu was using propaganda tools with sponsored protests, religious extremists were at it up north and some political office holders of northern extraction in his government too were busy betraying him. PWHC was able to jettison SLS's claim in their report as figures didn't match. SLS was just behaving like emefiele as CBN governor and used his office to favour his people. I remember the billions largesse to kano, during the attack. Whereas, worst cases happened down south but he looked the other way. How people forget things in a hurry. He later became emir of kano, his agelong ambition. Jega was another useless man. Today, he's holding a key position in the apc-led govt as compensation.

I've learned from Jonathan personally. Nigeria doesn't need a soft leader.I'd have put tinubu and his men in jail after charging them for treason and release them only a few weeks to the end of my 2nd tenure. Na shout him thugs go shout. Police wouid arrest and jail some of them and the rest wouid keep quiet. After all, he's the Commander-in-chief

I wouldn't argue that Jonathan's administration wasn't riddled with corruption, but they had a heart for the people.

Life during his era was good. As a graduate with 150k salary, you can start a family, rent a decent flat and buy a portable car.

Today, people earning 500k are crying because those in power don't care. They're out to loot this country to the bone.

Every sensible human being should respect Jonathan, at least going by how crassly incompetent his successors were.

But on this one, Mai martaba San Kano was correct. He constructively fired SLS. Or what's the difference between suspending [indefinitely] and sacking someone? or six and half a dozen?

Jonadàft sacked you for a reason...

Not being cooperative with him and the cabal to do as cabal wishes.
Jona was extremely weak and was just a CONFUSED STOOGE.
Interestingly, even Jona's regime was far better than evil Buhari and this Tinubu.

THE FOOL ANI EMPIRE IN THIS COUNTRY IS AN EMPIRE OF CORRUPTION, RETROGRESSION, NEPOTISM, OPPRESSION, CHAOS AND DOOM.

IF THEY'RE IN POWER, PROBLEM, NEPOTISM AND ANARCHY WILL LOOM...

IF THEY'RE NOT IN POWER, PROBLEM AND TERRORISM WILL LOOM.

Any paralstatal they head or fill much in population will be riddled with unimaginable corruption

Sack and constructively suspended are one and the same.
Jonathan is trying to change the narrative because it's against the the law to do what he did plus he was told point blank that it was against the law but he did it anyway.
Funny thing is that the same people that will be crying about rule of law now, where the same people who told Jonathan back then to ignore the law and fire Sanusi.
It only goes to show that we don't really care about rule of law, we only care about what we want.

Give us more evidence.
How can such huge amounts be missing?
Be detailed.
Who are involved.
I assumed Sanusi was working for APC then, I might be wrong.
But Sanusi needs to give more than word of mouth.
GEJ has challenged you publicly.
Make the detail public..
Or just seat for Kano sipping ur morning Kunnu in peace

You deserved it..

I love Sanusi but I know that he was one of the propaganda machine of the opposition party then that brought us to where we are today by heating up the corruption allegations against the PDP while in office..

You deserved what you got..

I could not love this post any more. The guy just told a big lie to divert attention from financial reporting council report of his activities.

Jonathan was a character who was scared of his own shadow.

Every truth was lies to him and his supporters.

Every negative news was seen by him as an attempt to embarrass his government.

From his shaky voice, it was obvious he lacked confidence and did not regard himself worthy of the political heights he reached without putting in the work or even having an ambition for such great heights.

An accidental Governor, an accidental President.

Infact as at that time, the man deserves to be sacked. He kept on giving conflicting figures the president man up and fired him. He was lucky it wasn't during Buhari's tenure, he would have been arrested after the sack. The man turned the office to a political one

To Obidients, GEJ was the beat president ever in the history of this country cos their kinsmen and women greatly benefitted from his government. Any other president was non performer. Even despite excessive looting under his reign, he was still the best.

But why did Jonathan not respond to the private information his own CBN Governor passed to him about the funds that should have accrued from the oil sales, only to feel embarrassed after it was leaked to the public?

Jonathan betrayed his cluelessness when he said if such amount was missing, America would know because dollars is their currency.

That has to be the most stupid statement ever uttered by a President of a country.

A PhD holder for that matter.
