Tinubu want to make these government agencies non attractive. These agencies are serious conduit pipe for government officials. Very soon , people won't be fighting for government jobs again

This is a strategic way of fighting corruption

A nice move in my opinion

At least we can hold NRS responsible for revenue leakages and fight them head on unlike in the past.

However, this task should be handled by Nigerians under the full employment of the FG and not one useless contractors that will be taking commissions that is far higher than equivalent salary to be paid to government workers that can do same.

Customs and NIS will become violent like police if this is implemented

Worst Decision
Asiwaju and NASS should stop this nonsense decision, it will definitely drag Nigeria backward.
1. Obasanjo realised that the MDAs were spending more than what they generated, despite the potentials

2. Obasanjo and Okonjo Iweala decided to give these Agencies a kind of autonomy, that is they must spend from what they generated and even send 20% of the money generated to Federal Government.

3. Since it's no work no pay, they started working like private companies and make sure they generate 20 times what they used to generate.

4 These agencies became attractive because in the autonomy clause they are allowed to increase their salaries to a certain percentage of the money generated ( the more they work the more money the generate and more salaries and allowances they collect.

5. If Asiwaju and NASS takes away what motivate these agencies to work tirelessly, they only want to destroy institutions that are working and it will bounce back on us the IMPORTERS ,and they will become like common Ministries where staff don't even go to work.

6. How will NIRS enforce the payment, NIGERIANSare not Americans or British that will pay Tax at will, it can only be enforced by the enforcement officers while carrying out their duties.
7 Ths stupid decision is another wrong decision that will drag Nigeria backward
8. I can bet it with my life that revenue will drop to 20%, and it will take minimum 10years to recover.
Collecting money from ship is like Mc Boys collecting money from bus drivers on the road, drivers will do everything to avoid the payment , but AGBERO too knows how to run after them many Ship will enter Nigeria switch OFF Automatic Identification System (AIS) , the devices will make their arrival known to authority, Customs, NPA, NIMASA all have staff with 20years experience to know how to get.

Is it about Big ship that pay heavily but will stay Offsore to discharge, that can only be boared by internationally certified oficcers?
(they do written exam and do practicals to obtain certificates)

Certified NPA, NIMASA CUSTOMS officers are the only officers that can go to high sea to board those ship,
do their duties check Ship engines, Oil, Seafarers Certificats, Ship Licences (JUST LIKE VIO & ROAD SAFETY OFFICRS JOBs) , along with officer that will check their payments ( who must also be certified to board) . Please how many years will it take FIRS to train certified officers ?

FOR ONCE NASS SHOULD PLEASE NOT BE A RUBBER STAMP AND STAND AGAINST WRONG DECISION.
THEY ARE THERE TO AVOID PRESIDENT ERROR THAT THE ENTIRE NIGERIANS WILL REGRET

Isn’t that what we want how it used to be, people working for government for the goood of the people?

He now needs to match it with befitting remuneration for those who work for government.

That said being as it is still Nigerians that will man the agencies, we will simply find a way to extract money from fellow Nigerians while sending what is meant for govt to govt.

Tinubu is planning to turn Nigeria to what Lagos state is today. He want to take control of the revenue of the country. Later he will bring in Alpha Beta to help Nigeria Revenue Service in collecting taxes while 10 to 20 percent will go directly to his pocket. Just wait and see. This is the plan.

Does he know better than the tax reform Committee headed by a renowned tax expert Mr Oyedele who is a former head of PWC or is it Delloite.

I think the freight forwarders are probably angry because government policies have rightly led to a reduction in destructive importation.

A Welcome Idea.
It's better handled by the Professionals as Accountants,Bankers and Tax- Revenue Managers.
Therefore,all other Govt Agencies as Customs Dept - are just making themselves bigger and without Accountabilities,as they have no other Agencies to be Accountable to.
There should be Layers of Reporting Agency to hold people Accountable-- for the Money Collected on behalf of Nigeria, even at our Borders or Entry Points - because-failure to do so,is an Avenues for- High Grade Corruption in the land,called Nigeria.
Finally,one good think Tinubu's Govt got Right here is that NNPC should Never Collect Revenue( Oil Money) for Nigeria and Only Designated -Banks should do so and by so doing, Accountabilities is Enshrined.

In addition to tax collection efficiency, I would be ecstatic if these new laws (once passed) resulted in less corruption at the affected agencies.

You collect money on behalf of government, yet the government has to beg you to repatriate the money to it

Also, agencies like Customs, FIRS etc are allowed to keep a percentage of humungus revenue they collect to cover 'administrative cost'.

The current system is a farce.

Good to see that the most courageous, and innovative government probably in the history of Nigeria is making these far reaching changes.

Import duties for a 40ft container in 2018 was only 2.5mil dollar was around 170-200

In an acclaimed pdp corrupt government 😁 😂 😁 😁 😁

Now import duties for a 40ft container is 17mil
Dollar is 1700
