Re: Hajj Fare To Hit N10m As NAHCON Announces End To Subsidy by UltraSolid: 9:03am On Oct 09 |
MartinCorridon: 1000% correct. A major problem of black Africans is that many resent their own skin and feel it is inferior to that of the Caucasian white man or even fairer folks like Arabs. That is a fundamental yet ignored issue that continues to leave Africa and Africans failing. Look at African leaders who myopically believe educating and training all their children abroad is better than trying to create best standards of educaction and training in Africa. Yahaya Bello was so enamoured with the American international school education system in Nigeria to the extent he paid almost $1 million for his kids to study there till, presumably, they can all then be transferred to the USA for university education. It is sad the world sees and treat Africans as second class but even more tragic that Africans themselves see and treat Africans as second class. In Nigeria today, we are killing ourselves and destroying our ancestral land over religions that did not originate here in Nigeria. What shows inferiority complex and subservience to others more than that? 1 Like |

Good 👍 News! Hajj subsidy should be scrapped. Anyone wishing to travel to Mecca or Jerusalem should finance himself or herself. It's not the business of government if anyone wishes to embark on spiritual rejuvenation or renewal of faith. A lot of money being wasted on going to Hajj. All Hajji Commissions should be scrapped immediately. No nation thrives under religious spending and pretensions. 1 Like 1 Share |

Government should never have subsidized Hajj in the first place. It is an individual matter and each pilgrim should bear the cost 1 Like 1 Share |

Some many evil schemes were introduced into our budget by wicked, corrupt demons. Why should public funds be used to sponsor private tourism? Yes, it's private tourism. If it means so much to you, fund it from your pocket. Pilgrimage subsidy enriches a few devils here and the government of the host country. Tinubu, you have done pretty well here. Let them cry blood. You fit sell your house take go pilgrimage, na u sabi. 1 Like 1 Share |

Omodua: Baba, most subsidies retained in Nigeria today are bad and should be scrapped because they only create negative and economically unproductive addiction that renders Nigerians worthless. Same as crack cocaine destroys those addicted to it eventually. Think about it. If you are feeding and housing your 28 year old graduate son, plus providing him a monthly allowance he can use to host oloshos, what will then inspire him to be productive, hardworking, ambitious, a productive pillar of society and a solutions provider? That is the problem of Nigeria. We subsidise virtually everything to then lead to the mental laziness and entitlement mentality that has stunted the productivity and solutions-provision potentials of the average Nigerian by as much as 80%. Look at all Nigerians complaining of hunger, because they think government must feed them, yet many do not understand they can convert the little space around their house to small farms in a period of national emergency. Did we not all have to adjust during the covid lock down period? Why not take same approach now that Nigeria must reform or die because past leadership mistakes has made that our unavoidable reality today? That is the damage subsidy does. It creates dependency, stunts the capacity of an individual to be driven and productive while ultimately reducing most Nigerians to a cretin-like state where they don't even see obvious solutions in front of their eyes before they start shouting "Tinubu". Nigeria had no business subsidising Hajj in the first place in so far as most successful and developed nations, that deliberately embraced secularity, chose to dump sponsorship of religious activities at the door of private organisations and individuals. Stop subsidising Hajj and most Nigerian Muslim will soon understand Hajj is not as compulsory as getting close to your God in your heart and private surrounding rather than visiting a place, very expensively, others have made you to believe is sanctified. Nothing but inferiority complex and brianwashing. God, by his omnipotence and omnipresence, abides everywhere. Not in Mecca or Jerusalem alone. Seek him in the corner of your Ajegunle, Daura or Zaki Biam room and he will be there to listen to you. 1 Like |
Re: Hajj Fare To Hit N10m As NAHCON Announces End To Subsidy by UltraSolid: 10:04am On Oct 09 |
Justnation: Indeed. Next thing Tinubu must do, in my opinion, is to introduce a religious secularity Bill that will relegate all religions, be that Christianity or Islam, to the background per national, economic, public administration and political life of Nigerians. We never do things properly in Nigeria and that is why our nation is effed up. Religion, overall, is a net negative to Nigeria in my opinion. If I am in Tinubu's shoes I will follow a policy of reducing the power and influence of Christian and Moslem religious leaders, malevolent in many cases, so that Nigerians can begin to embrace the concept of "Heaven help those who help themselves" instead of donation their brain, will and money to so-called men of God. |

fortunez1: Truth is that Tinubu is the bitter pill Nigerians must swallow to survive and then thrive immensely tomorrow. Is it possible to survive cancer without painful chemotherapy that leaves you weak, listless, depressed and nauseated always? No. Yet, once you recover and are cancer-free, a new life and new possibilities beckons after defeating the dreaded disease. What President has had the balls to take this sort of action since 1999? GEJ and Buhari knew subsidy had to go but were too weak and too focused on politics of two term Presidency to do the right thing. Buhari is even worse with how he removed fuel subsidy in the budget he signed into law that would be implemented under Tinubu. Yet Tinubu has never tried to hide. He has stood his ground also in belief his policies will liberate Nigeria long-term and for good. The biggest problem of Nigeria has been lack of political will from all Presidents and heads of State of our nation since independence. When faced with the option of taking tough but correct choices, at critical junctions in our history, they capitulated and made populist, cabalistic or self-serving choices that only worsened the misery of Nigerians and Nigeria. Nigerians really misunderstand Tinubu. I don't agree with everything he has done so far but I believe he is by far the best, bravest most strong-willed and most well-meaning leader we have had since Obafemi Awolowo. Do Nigerians even understand how many enemies Tinubu accepts he has made, with this move, in Northern Nigeria where they are fundamental in their religious worship? If he is solely focused on 2027 Northern votes, rather than accelerated progress fro Nigeria, why make this move? This is a President to back for a better future but Nigerians, with entitlement mentality, won't see it till they land themselves with Atiku or worse. 1 Like |

MartinCorridon: MartinCorridon.... While you tax Churches, remember to tax mosques too. Collections are taken there...and the Imams also feed fat on the sweat of their followers. Both religions take financial collections in one form or the other, not only the Church. |
