If Tinubu had waited for investors to come to him when he was Lagos governor, we would not have Lekki free trade zone, let alone Dangote refinery.

Sit this one out. It's beyond your IQ level.

18 years after, how well is the FTZ doing? You wanted to sound smarter however, you are not.

FTZ is meant to help improve trade by taking off excise duty but in the 18 years, how many ship have birthed and how many containers have been offloaded? How has that improved the prices of things? Abeg, we should stop acting as though we need these foreign investors to survive has studies have even shown Foreign Direct Investment has not yielded great results in Sub-Saharan Africa as they only use our nations to make money and eventually end up in capital flight.

Lol. LAGOS Government has been trying to secure funding for it since 2011. This one is talking bidding. 🤡

A Nigerian bank is the financial advisor.

If we check now, you are from Ebonyi or one of those funny states that should normally be a local government.
what the guy said still makes sense, if funding is the issue why not borrow to finance the project, afterall the federal govt has been borrowing billions of dollars, if Lagos were to borrow to finance the project with let's say a little interest, in the end when the project starts generating revenue the govt gets its investment back gradually, than giving such a lucrative business to a foreign entity when revenues are being generated it would be flown outside Nigeria.

Once again, this has started on a wrong note.

Interested construction companies should be coming to you, Governor, to express their interest. Not you going to them.

When will we ever learn about power dynamics, optics, and the art of negotiating from a position of strength.

There appears to be no end in sight to the African affliction of inferiority complex.

I just watched Keyamo interviewing on Arise TV and what you just said can't be truer than you highlighted. He talked about how these unpatriotic Nigerians tried to sell Nigerians away to Ethiopia. There is corruption everywhere in the world but Nigeria's own is scary because others will never sell their country away, Nigerians won't bother as long as they get their cut.

I urge you not to respond to quotes that don't address the issues. When people are bereft of logical and mature responses, they resort to calling names.

is LFTZ the only free trade zone in Nigeria?

what makes you think that without a free trade zone, dangote would not have built a refinery?

are his other companies all in the free trade zone?

when the Jigawa airport or MMA were built, did the government go abroad to look for people to build them?

according to the governor

Mr. Selim Bora, the Chairman of Summa International Construction Inc., provided us with a tour of their projects, showcasing the company’s expertise and commitment to quality. The group has a proven track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure initiatives.

that is interesting. is the company not supposed to be seeking business from the LASG instead of LASG going to Turkey to offer them business since the LASG is the supposed client?

This is different. Lekki free trade was a high risk, unknown factor 20 or 25 years ago, so the vision needed to be sold to foreign investors.

This is completely different. None of Lagos, Lekki, or the potential of an airport is an unknown quantity the way an abstract free zone area in the Lekki area was years back. So there are many international companies interested in getting involved in the airport.

Also, a single Nigerian or a consortium of 2 or 3 Nigerians can finance this project from start to finish, and just bring in an international operator to manage the airport on an O & M basis. Bringing a Turkish company to build the airport on a 25, 30 or more years concession is not an optimum way of going about this. It's just the usual African mentality of selling off everything to foreigners.

And you questioning my intellect grin What will one not hear on Nairaland.

This is a BOT and not an O&M deal. Which is the former is more preferable

You are concerned about improving connectivity to lagos? With very weak and inefficiencient public transportation systems (especially buses) absence of proper sewage systems, almost non existence dedicated cyclist or pedestrian path. Inefficient public health and emergency systems. Fix those at least first before embarking on white elephant projects. Smh

You are right. But I see why the Governor would want to go look for foreign construction companies to handle the project.

The major reason may not be unconnected to our corruption index as a nation, it is high risk giving a project of this magnitude to a local Nigerian firm.

All he said is that the contract should start with open bidding to the governor and not the governor showing preference to a foreign firm. Nigerian companies are able to finance projects worth billions of dollars, nothing too big that can't be handled locally.

There is no High risk of anything..

LASG doesn't have money to fund it..so they need international partner who will only want to use their contractors if they are bringing in their money..
If LASG can pay for it.. craneburg a Nigerian company that built Anambra and is building Ogun airport can build it

LASG is not financing from their pocket. Read to understand.

They need a partner for that project and that partner if foreign will likely choose their own contractors.

It is the same way FG borrows money from China for projects and award the contract to a Chinese company. This is a common politics all over the world.

It is a win win for both entities as long as the project Is delivered and the financiers can recover their money

You can't borrow from The US for a project then award construction to a russian company.
