The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is facing intense backlash on social media after reports surfaced that lawyers representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were harassed and prevented from inspecting the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines used in the recent Edo governorship election.

The perpetrators of the obstruction are said to be thugs loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC), raising concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.

The inspection of BVAS machines is a critical part of the legal process as the PDP challenges the results of the election, which saw the APC candidate declared the winner.

Despite initial assurances from INEC's Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo State, Anugbum Onuoha, that all political parties would be given access to the election materials, PDP lawyers have been reportedly blocked from conducting a thorough inspection.

The news of the incident spread rapidly across social media platforms, with Nigerians and political commentators alike expressing outrage at the perceived interference with the legal process.

The hashtag #BVASInspectionNow quickly began trending on Twitter, as users demanded transparency from INEC and condemned the alleged intimidation tactics used to prevent the PDP from gathering crucial evidence for their case.

“Why is INEC silent as thugs disrupt the legal process? Democracy demands transparency! #BVASInspectionNow,”
one user tweeted.

Another tweet read: “If INEC can’t guarantee access to BVAS inspection, how can we trust the results? #BVASInspectionNow.”

Public commentators and political analysts have also weighed in, questioning INEC's ability to conduct free and fair elections.

“INEC’s credibility is on the line. The refusal to ensure a proper inspection of BVAS machines damages public trust in the electoral process. #BVASInspectionNow,” said political analyst Dr. Uche Maduka.

The harassment of the PDP legal team comes on the heels of weeks of political tension in Edo State, where the results of the governorship election have been hotly contested.

The PDP alleged that there were irregularities in the voting process, including voter suppression, manipulation of results, and other forms of electoral malpractice.

The party has filed a petition calling for a review of the election, citing the need to inspect the BVAS machines as part of their evidence-gathering efforts.

Omo. Elections are getting progressively worse under APC. It's always been subpar, but never been this blatantly terrible.

APC is a lesson on something we should always be wary off. A conglomerate of all sorts of inhumanly rotten, bastardly corrupt, ravenously power-hungry old devils with the sole purpose of wresting power from PDP. As soon as that mission was accomplished, the agenda became to hold on to power at all cost, even to the point of wanton destruction of lives, properties, our economy, law and order.

God save us.

Nigeria is a case of the more you look the less you see.

If you know your hands are clean why are you worried about BVAs inspection?

Even the devil know that APC didn't win Edo state election.

INEC and APC are killíng the Democratic spirit in Nigeria gradually in other to end up having a one party state.

Who are the Nigerians?? 😆

BVAS' inspection should be carried out under close monitoring so that the so called "lawyers" don't alter it to suit their case.

It's the way INEC would seriously be preparing for an 'election', for me. Only to still cahoot with political thugs from the ruling class facilitated by the police to announce a pre-written result.. then tells the victims to go to court. Jettisoning its own guidelines to review because they are clearly carrying out directives of their paymasters.

Is it the court that collected billions of Naira to procure BVAS, is it the court that spent billions to train Electoral Officers, is it the court that pretended to be doing an election..

And the way the courts stamp all these malfeasance and shenanigans calls to question our judicial process.. and makes the country a laughing stock among comity of nations with decent rules of law..

So INEC is armed with weapons to resist thugs or tell politicians what to do? Instead of you to call out the politicians, you are wasting your time sharing unnecessary and sponsored hashtags. You are not ready!

We all are not against illegality, we are just angry it is against our fave.

INEC doesn't rig elections, politicians do.

In this age of smart phone. You mean no picture or video evidence of the thugs?

Yet they were identified as APC thug?

Why is it that when APC win election it's fraud but when PDP or LP win it's well done

This is bad trend created by Obi the package fraud and his headless mob. Very bad.
