Air Peace had submitted a fake request to the FAA to purchase US registered aircrafts.

The Shell company was supposed to purchase the aircrafts already pre approved by the FAA. Sales tax , corporate taxes and other sundry taxes due to the US govt were supposed to have been remitted but not one penny was duly accounted for. This is where the IRS comes in.

It's clear the funds transfered into the accounts of Springfield Aviation were never used for its intended purposes as spelt out in bank transfer documents backed up with documents from the FAA. The funds were then moved to a private account and from there transferred out of the US. This is money laundry and the DEA is interested because they suspect the proceeds might have been from illicit drug transactions.
