The last of the Saturday arrest of the former acting chairman of the Labour Party in Abia state, Ceekay Igara has not been heard as the party has finally broken its silence, saying the arrest is in connection with alleged impersonation and extortion against Igara.

ABN TV report that he was since March elevated the position of South East Vice Chairman of the Party but the leadership of LP in Abia is questioning why he keeps acting as though he is the chairman of Abia State Chapter of the party.

He said, "That no law court has invalidated the existence or activities of the Acting State Chairman Mr. Emmanuel Oti and his Executive members, hence it was wrong and illegal for Mr. Igara to impersonate the Chairman and his executive by carrying out their legally recognised functions without their consent or approval.

"That we are aware that following the petition, he had been invited by the police to which he refused to honour.

"That while we recognise and respect the judgement which recognised Barr. Julius Abure as the National Chairman, Abure's faction which Igara is part of has no right to flagrantly ignore the appeal and the motion for stay of execution that had been duly filed against them, by purpotedly dissolving and imposing a new Caretaker leadership on the Abia State Chapter, against the provisions of the law and the Constitution of our part", the party said.

Abia State Chapter of Labour Party said it has gone further to secure a validly issued order of court to restrain Abure, Igara and others from those activities that prompted its petition to the Police.

The party says it is peaceful and law abiding, hence every single action it has taken, including its petition to the Police against Igara which led to his arrest, has been in line with the provisions of the law.

Meanwhile, police command in the state has said it received a written petition from the Labour Party’s Acting State Chairman against Mr. Ceekey Igara and three others for alleged impersonation, obtaining by false pretence, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

"Yesterday (Saturday) 19/10/2024, detectives from the Command invited Mr. Igara, to the Command Headquarters, took his statement, and released him the same day.

"Investigation is ongoing", the command said.

How we focus on trivial political matters in a collapsing country pisses me off to my bones. If we know the terms and conditions of the loans Buhari and Tinubu took, u will weep for this country. If it happened in Lagos by now the page will be in page 100 from all kind of abuse and insults but read all their comment all you will see is hmm, ok, God help us, jokers, na wah oo etc. This is why I'm always angry with them because I can't understand why would I see someone doing wrong and I look elsewhere simply because he is from tribe pls wha the f u c k is that?
