Easy. It's more expensive to manufacture here than abroad.
It takes foolish to believe that imported is not subsidized

In this country currently, the more we look, the less we see. What's really going on in this country. Why are these capitalists bent on destroying this country totally. I'm very sure, there is something Tinubu, NNPCL and Dangote are not telling the masses. Dangote is located in Nigeria and is not paying import duty but the price of petrol is increasing. They allude that there is no enough fuel to distribute throughout the country yet Dangote is fighting against import of refined products. Why can't Tinubu have mercy on the masses for goodness sake.

grandstar:

A litre of crude oil at least 750 per litre. How do you expect him to sell petrol for 600 per litre and make a profit? I have not included refining costs!

In addition, refined products bought in Malta are from Russia. Due to sanctions, Russia can't sell its crude oil above $60 per barrel, unlike its price of $75. So, buying Russian products just makes sense as its price would be very, very competitive. Dangote would find it hard competing against them.

You are wasting your time with Nigerians, they have been broken by many years of bad government. The imported fuel is the dirtiest in the world and is banned in West Africa. Nigeria imports dead men, unhygienic clothes, poor-quality rice and dirty fuel.

In the energy industry, the cheapest, dirtiest petrol is referred to as “African quality”. This type of petrol, laced with high levels of toxic substances, is banned in Europe.

But major international oil traders, including Trafigura and Vitol, continue to sell the dirty fuel to West African countries, despite the proven risks to human health and the environment.

In doing so, they are bypassing efforts designed to improve the air quality of West African cities, according to a months-long investigation by The Continent, conducted in partnership with investigative journalism platforms Apache and Spit (in Belgium and the Netherlands respectively).

Most of you shouting monopoly don't understand the implications of continuing importation of petroleum products.

40% of the pressure on forex in Nigeria is for the importation of refined petroleum products

- Dangote currently refines enough products to meet domestic consumption and to spare.

- If Nigeria stops imports of refined petroleum products, the pressure on our forex will be reduced by as much as 40% leading to the massive appreciation of the Naira.

- A barrel of crude oil currently sells for about $80 per barrel. With the exchange rate hovering around N1,700 to a Dollar. When pressure is reduced on our forex as a result of an end to imports of refined products, the Naira can appreciate to about N1000 to a USD. That means refineries in Nigeria will need less Naira to buy each barrel of Crude oil. This will lead to a drop in pump prices and inflation.

- by continuing to issue licences to import refined petroleum products, NNPC is killing our economy.

This nonsense has to stop

Keep defending a greedy person. If his petrol is cheaper, importation will die a natural death.

This lawsuit wey him do, he will cry back from that court. Mark this words.

I told you guys that the reason he wanted the NNPCL to be the only buyers of his petrol is for him to overcharge the government. If he had had his way, if he supplies 1000 litres, they will inflate it to 3000, and NNPCL will pay from our pocket.

The man does not operate where he doesn't have monopoly. Cement price in Nigeria is the highest in sub Sahara Africa for the last 15 years due Dangote's monopoly and corrupt government officials.

Where is the monopoly? Instead of attacking Dangote attack, NNPCL has invested $4 billion in repairing four refineries that are not working.

BUA Group has a 200k refinery coming onstream next year.

NNPCL has 450k refinery capacity; why ae they not working

Nigeria also has 200k module refineries across the south of the country.

Dangote has invested over $30 billion into the country to support local production. Yet, the useless NNPCL is still importing fuel despite spending $4 billion to repair the PH, Warri, and Kaduna Refineries.

Why will anyone invest in this country?

You’re a buffoon! When last did NNPC import petroleum?

Idiots like you have never heard of forward contracts & you stupidly assume someone will just take a tanker to a refinery abroad and buy petrol off the shelf.

Do you even know how long it takes to process a Letter of Credit?

Sadly, your type does not know hence the bullsh*t you’re typing here.

If people ordered petrol from as far back as 6 months ago, it then becomes bad for Dangote hirelings like you, right? So, they should vitiate the purchase contracts they signed and either lose loads of money in penalties or even have court proceedings against them, just to satisfy your monopolistic god, right? Shame on you and the lies you spew!

That's it. If we say that Nigeria is on autopilot, they say we are criticizing.

If the president is not interested in something as big and strategic as Dangote refinery , what else can he be interested in.
Now Dangote has to resort to Court in a fight for survival despite all the claimed impact on the Nigerian economy.

Since the president doesn't care to use the refinery to reposition the economy, the oil Canal can use it.
Well, am happy that everyone one is feeling the impact of the choice we made.
Dangote, fight on because you are alone.

Dangote is not a true business genius as perceived. He only thrives with government aid and monopoly. If everyone is given fair chances in every business venture that Dangote is into, I doubt he will even be in the top 15 spots in any one of his ventures.

Dangote is definitely not here to make the lives of the common masses any easier.

When you see both parties fighting like this you may think they are fighting for the interest of the country but nay. They are seeking only their interests and nothing more. Dangote wants to control the oil sector just like he currently does the cement sector. Look at the price of cement today. Totally out of reach of the common man and this is for a commodity whose raw materials is right here with us.
The day that questionable fellow at Nnpc said even if Dangote starts producing petrol that the price would still not fall was when I knew we were in big big trouble.
Everything about the oil sector is riddled with corruption and that's why the past and present APC pretend presidents have always doubled as oil ministers.

Which one is the monopoly? Does nnpc not own 3 or 4 refinaries which billions of citizens money has been spent on? Should nnpc not be the one fingers should be pointed at for monopoly? Was the refinaries not meant to commence operations since the buhari time? Every month the announce pH, KD, warri will start production, they said last month, moved it to October and the story continues. If nnpc refinaries work, then you can genuinely give competition over price to Dangote.

Shame on you! No nation worth its salt will allow local entrepreneurs to arbitrarily hike prices of their products so uncontrollably because they have monopoly powers!

If Dangote cannot sell below (or at par) with the landing costs of internationally sourced products, then Nigeria should really start thinking of flooding other sectors in which he currently operates.

I live in the UK and run my own software business. I am not one of those hungry Nigerians who will sell their souls for a plate of garri.

If you have any clue about the oil and gas industry, you will realise that the Dangote price is one of the cheapest in the world; the average international price is $1.25, and the Dangote price is less than 60 cents. Dangote is not the problem, the problem is floating that Nigeria killed Nigeria's purchasing power.

Tariffs and regulations can make price of locally produced goods to be more expensive than the imported ones.

Why is the Dangote refinery not meeting it own target of 25m litres daily production and expects to be the sole supplier to the market.

I don't know if Dangote is for or against Nigerians.

You want a monopoly on almost everything, yet none of your products are within reach of the common man. Your cement is now terribly expensive, despite all the natural resources obtained within Nigeria.

The refinery, which we thought would solve all problems in the oil sector, is now causing unnecessary headaches and drama for Nigerians.
This is why I insist that "school na scam" is a big deception.

Tell me one more thing used in making cement, key thing, apart from limestone, that's gotten in Nigeria.

Then tell me why other cement manufacturers are not selling below Dangote's ex-depot price.

If you also know how to read, you'd see that the 0.5% levy imposed on off-takers and the producer, Will definitely affect the price per liter an end consumer like you would receive the products. So, he's fighting for you here.

He's fighting for a component of the PIA to be enforced for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians. This is for you, too.

Does it even make sense, that a company will openly tell a government to make it a sole supplier.

Please don't fall for this media judgement on Dangote.

I'm not supporting Dangote, but if the Government doesn't want him to be the sole supplier then bring on board another refinery and not importation as alternative.

For the question, there are so many reasons a company will not meet it's daily targets. (Dangote or BAU)
1. Input is greater than or equal to output
