This government is not just serious.
Power sector is one of the biggest sector that can generate good revenue for the government and bring about huge economically change and progress for Nigeria and Nigerians, but the government is just so senseless and useless to utilise it.

MOST NIGERIANS USE ESTIMATED BILL METER, WHICH ANCIENT AND INACCURATE. A LOT OF THE MONEY DON'T EVEN GET TO THE RIGHT AUTHORITY AND SO MANY JUST BRIBE THEIR WAY THROUGH.

EVEN THE PREPAID METER IS WORSE.
- MOST CRIMINAL MINDED NIGERIANS DON'T REALLY PAY. THEY TAP AND SO ILLEGAL CONNECTION TO REDUCE COST AND THE CORRUPT OFFICIAL AND SOMETIMES INVOL IN HELPING TO DO THOSE ILLEGAL CONNECTIONS.

Some people deliberately destroy their prepaid meters so they can have a justification for doing direct and illegal connection

Some of the prepaid meters are not also strong. When you complain to those officials to come and fix it, they will take ages or charge you ridiculous amount to fix it.

Most unfortunate is that, they hardly come foe routine checkups to see whose meter is working well and who has done illegal connection.
I know a lot of people using prepaid meters but don't pay for electricity for many years now.
I really liked this your comment. You balanced the equation on both the sides of NEPA and people

You'll never see nairaland1 here. Taxation without fiscal transparency and operational standards is the height of corruption. Yet, people think Nigeria would ever work like this. A thief can never hold others accountable.

This does not change the fact that power is undercharged here.

Apparently saying that a business must make a profit means you are an apc supporter

So I'll leave such people to their delusions

What do you think it's the true "charge" for power?

Besides, how can you know power is undercharged when customers are paying for power they never used and also paying for repairs. How do you calculate that loss to the customer

I don't understand why FG will leave Nigerians in the hands of distribution companies to be defrauded and do nothing about it

BEDC in Benin will carry all this estimated billings and put it inside your new prepaid meter so you will start paying for what you did not use

When will this official scamming of Nigerians in the name of estimated billings stop?

The same way they have left us in the hands of NNPCL and DANGOTE to do whatever they like with us.
The FG will just say it's none of their biz Disco, NNPCL and DANGOTE are all private companies.
Like all Nigerians are fools

Estimated billing is actually how this evil doers rip off Nigerians,….

They will never want it to end
The transformer in my area packed up for 5 months. When it eventually got fixed (with contributions from the residents) our electricity bills has arrears from those months we didn't have public electricity.

Nigeria is a waste of space.
