That's right. Their parents or guardians should buy for them. But do we use the details to fight crimes? Good policies, bad governance.

APC n primitive policies sha

Some 18 year olds abroad are having PhDs abroad but APC lead administration feels they should not be allowed to buy SIM cards

Which 18 years old has PhD abroad? Have you seen one or just spew out what you are comfortable with?

You will be nothing less than 17 years old to finish high school in US, let alone university and PhD.

The government is right on this so sit this out.

Those under 18s who have PhDs abroad are still unexempted from laws that bind minors.

They called them rare or exceptional students/learners. There is one Chinese kid too who finished high school at age 9. The Western education system, particularly in the USA don't allow a kid less than 17 years old to enter university. You will definitely finish high school between 17 and 19.

The fact still remains that even the EXCEPTIONALLY GIFTED KIDS aren't allowed to skip stages in this country.

And there are several exceptionally gifted American kids that skipped school stages

Make the sim registration with valid ID a must. No need of banning anyone.

Those below 18 years don't have valid id

They have NIN before registering for waec

They have a valid ID

What are you saying? My kid of 5 months old has NIN registered for him because it was the requirement to open kid account for him. So, from a day old, you can have valid ID which NIN is one of them.

Wackish thinking.

Entering a bus is a form of contract also. Will you ban minors from entering buses too?

Telecoms, especially the type we run in Nigeria which is mostly prepaid is a contract of necessity and not voidable. They like copying oyinbo things without checking why its done a particular way.

God bless you for this.
Doubt they understood the term contract of necessity, don't be surprised the champion of this is a lawyer, just the way a prof/VC is promoting 18yrs as admission age before he was kicked out

The NIN is linked to the registered number. Operators who flout it will get sanctioned by the regulator. Operators are meant to enforce the law.

These operators have been using people's NIN to register sim and sell them if you're willing to pay.

None have been arrested so far.

Say what you know, I knew many of them that wrote common entrance at primary 4 and WAEC and UTME at sss 2. I know countless 15/16 years in their 100L as undergraduate.

I don't say what I don't have first hands information about, I would rather pass than claiming what I am not sure of.

All the instances you mentioned ARE DONE ILLEGALLY which is why the reason no matter how you take skip class we will never have a Nigerian PhD aged 18
. I am talking about an institution realising the potential of genius in a child and developing his/her talents through a preexisting mechanism

This is 100% unnecessary..... because their parents will go and buy the simcard for their children......

Or their friends that is above 18 years will buy it for them....

Then if anything happens their parents will be held responsible.

Parents will still not listen. They will get their children phones. Gifting a child one has more benefits that demerits. A five year old can quickly call his/her parents from school in case of any emergency. I understand the government putting restrictions to protect minors. Smart parents will disregard the policy.

Can only come from an agency headed by an abokii, always thinking backwards, the other time , another one said women should get a letter of permission from their husbands before they travel, in this 21st century.

They think the way they subjugate their northern women is the same with other women, no let my south south girls break your head ooo😁😂😅😂😂

Legal age do not apply to necessities, I don't understand how our policy makers reason at times.
Communications is part of the necessity of life, that's why you can post letters even as a child in the days when there was no mobile gadgets, except for land phones and nitel telephones.
Instead of modifying rules to be in tune with time, we just place a ban, and it's not like the ban won't have a loophole to be exploited.

I wonder if some of you guys are lettered, can't you read that you should buy for your kids and assume the liability that comes with the use of misuse? If it also helps curb insecurity then it's not a bad policy. Kids should not be able to enter contractual agreements with anyone because they are not legal
