A non-teaching staff of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State working in the Directorate of Physical Planning, Works and Services, Mr. Paul Joseph Smile has developed a Web App “DeyChop.Com” that helps in online booking and delivering of food from different eateries and restaurants within Ebonyi State, to homes, offices and business centers in record time.

This innovative idea is the first of its kind in the State, and it has really enhanced the efficient delivery of food to offices, homes and markets within the state, without the buyers being physically present to purchase the food. This has also helped in the proper management of man-hour for upwardly-mobile business executives, civil servants, politicians and other career people.
While speaking on the reason behind the innovation, Mr. Paul Joseph Smile noted that he noticed that some persons were facing difficulties in having access to good meals at normal and odd hours and in other to boost and promote the availability of good meals for the working and business classes, his team researched and developed a software called “DeyChop APP” that allows anyone in the State to order and receive food from any restaurant within 20-30 minutes.
He noted that the App will assist staff and students within and outside the University Community to connect with any eatery of their choice on campus and Ebonyi State in general, adding that it can also direct people to check their diet at any point in time.
He further said that the APP would create job opportunities for students and graduates in various locations to work virtually and physically to earn from its
services.
Smile maintained that the availability of the kitchens on the web-App helps in boosting the online visibility of the University and encouraged other staff to see innovations and inventions as tasks for changing and improving the society.

While speaking on the feat, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sunday Elom commended the staff and his team for their innovation, noting that university as a factory of knowledge, is meant to encourage staff and students to develop and create platforms that will solve problems and thus, enhance the society.
Of a fact, the Vice-Chancellor noted that this latest innovation from a non- teaching staff of the university will help in solving some of the challenges working class people face during office hours in the area of accessing good meals. He maintained that the App would also reduce the amount of time staff and students time waste in search of good food, as they can easily select, book and order for their favorites while still in the offices, class rooms and hostels.
