Abuja, Nigeria - Stakeholders from government, civil society, and law enforcement have joined forces to tackle prostitution and has unveiled a comprehensive plan to address prostitution, popularly known as "Ashawo work," in the country. The initiative aims to provide support and alternative livelihoods for sex workers, while also cracking down on brothels, human trafficking and exploitation.

The collaborative effort focuses on:

1. Rehabilitation and skills training for sex workers.
2. Strengthening laws against human trafficking.
3. Public awareness campaigns.
4. Community engagement.

The menace of prostitution has long plagued Nigerian society, with its associated risks of exploitation, health concerns, and social stigma. To combat this issue, the government and partners are implementing a holistic approach.

Key strategies include:

- Providing vocational training and economic empowerment programs for sex workers.
- Enhancing law enforcement capacity to tackle human trafficking.
- Conducting nationwide awareness campaigns.
- Engaging local communities in prevention efforts.

This multi-faceted initiative aims to safeguard vulnerable individuals, promote social justice, and foster a safer, more equitable society.
