Pretoria, South Africa – President Cyril Ramaphosa has reaffirmed South Africa’s commitment to a non-aligned foreign policy, emphasizing the country’s dedication to peace, justice, and international cooperation.

In a speech delivered on August 20, 2023, President Ramaphosa outlined the principles that guide South Africa’s foreign policy. He highlighted the country’s historical struggle against apartheid and its subsequent commitment to a foreign policy rooted in the ideals of the Freedom Charter.

The President emphasized South Africa’s pursuit of strategic partnerships with various countries, without aligning with any specific global power or bloc. This approach, he explained, is essential to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and promoting its economic interests.

South Africa’s non-aligned stance has enabled it to engage constructively with countries like Russia and Ukraine, despite the ongoing conflict. The country has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy, while also maintaining strong historical ties with Russia.

To further strengthen diplomatic relations with Ukraine, South Africa is set to host Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on October 28, 2024. The visit will include the signing of a visa waiver agreement, facilitating travel between the two countries.

As the incoming chair of the G20 in 2025, South Africa will have the opportunity to shape the global agenda and promote its foreign policy priorities. The country will also continue to play a leading role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), seeking to boost intra-African trade and economic integration.

Non-alignment is a form of chameleonic approach to foreign policy. It favors no one. They should be content with their BRICS approach. What's Ramaphosa afraid of?

Non-align policy enables them to buy enough time to strategically weigh their options before engaging any further country for economic or strong political partnerships.

I think it's a wise one.

Currently, China & Russia are becoming strategically powerful and all western nations are in economic crises and inflation. India is also gaining momentum. . The shift is obviously in favour of the BRICS. . That's the truth.

Continuous alignment to USA and it's puppets at this point is risky due to obvious power shift that is taking place with in technology, gas, energy, space, and military.

SA is learning that putting all your eggs in Russia's BRICS will not work out for most African countries in the long run.

Russia is not going to save you in the long run. It doesn't have the capacity.

I hope the Nigerian government doesn't listen to social media noise from some Nigerians clamouring for the country to join BRICS.

Nigeria should not join. Nigeria's BRICS partner-status announced recently is where it should stop.

As the largest country in Africa, both the Western alliance and BRICS wants Nigeria on their side.

Nigeria should remain non-Allied, and be smart in benefiting from both sides.

May be you are the fool or brainwashed, did you think Hezbollah or Hamas where just created to hate or attack Israel?

You need to go back in history and get proper education so that you don't confuse the victim as the aggressor.

A simple Google search will give you the answers you need like why was Hezbollah created.

Did you know Israel invaded Lebanon in 1978 and occupied Lebanon till 24 May 2000, that is 22 years occupation of Lebanon.

the idiot of a president is going about court case against Israel and and at same time eating and drinking and sleeping in same bed with Russia , Russia who attack Ukraine because of plan to join NATO and the same Russia now ask countries to come and join BRICS that putting form , even the S in the BRICS stand for South Africa but the president want to deny alignment , suddenly realizes what the next consequence will be

They are hypocrites. They are neither here nor there. They help form a body whose aim is to destroy the dominance of the dollar and have an alternative but also wants to operate a none alliance treaty. Ramphosa is a bunch of jokes. He doesn't know his onions and doesn't know who to and who not to follow.

The Russians and Chinese, have no good intentions for anyone and any country. They have slightly started showing south Africans what kind of people they are . Imagine a Chinese police in kenya. They have no meaningful technology to transfer to you except for weapons and slavery bound agreements , where you ceed part of your territory to them in exchange for infrastructure.

If I may ask here , how many Russian hospitals have you seen. How many Chinese doctors have you met or their hospitals. ... Abegi

Chinese and Russians equipments with no international language written in it .
