A member of the House of Representatives, Alex Ikwechegh, who assaulted an e-hailing (Bolt) driver who went to deliver a package to him has tendered a public apology. Ikwechegh admitted that his behaviour did not meet the standards expected of a public official. He issued the public apology on Monday, saying, “As a public servant, I recognise the trust placed in me by my constituents and the Nigerian people. Ben Kalu thwarted justice by allowing Alex Ikwechegh to remain in the house. The right thing to do is to suspended him from the house of representatives pending investigations.(Thats the least he should do) Senator Abdul Ningi was suspended on the floor of the senate and bundled out for allegations against him by his colleagues. He did not slap anybody, he did not threaten to make Akpabio disappear, he did not threaten Akpabio with death or disappearance,he did not damage the property of any senator. He was given a 3 month suspension with immediate effect. Ben kalu while laughing and addressing the senate today refused to suspend Alex Ikwechegh. Ben Kalu has just shown the world he is a democratic dictator. Because the only time Nigerians were assaulted and molested without repercussions was in the hands of the military during military regime. How are we any different today. When a lawmaker seen on video assaulting a citizen is allowed back in the house of represenatives amidst cheers and laughter. |
