Sales Vs Banking Operations by kes4glory(m): 9:11pm On Oct 31
Hello everyone, I have been in the operations unit of tier 1 bank and have spent 4 years and currently an ABO the highest cadre in my unit is the Group head who's a DM and have spent over 20 years, I noticed promotion is extremely slow in operations and have decided to switch to sales retail banking .

What's your advice, is this a good move? I also notice other banks pouched Relationship managers more than Operations staff.
While I know marketing can be mentally demanding , I feel operations is stressful and rigid and the exposure to cases of fraud is high.

Before throwing the baton to my line Manager to exit the unit I need advice on this please

You open topics and go hiatus, you don't engage so what's the guarantee that you'll read people's comments.

Well I'm sorry if I don't engage, I read your comments about how working in operations is not too good for career progression, you even suggested retail banking.

Let me reiterate that your advice is much needed and I don't mind your guidance..

Thanks

Let's start with your location, are you in your bank's H/O location?

It's better you switch to marketing before it's too late. Banks jobs generally are stressful.

The thing with retail is that he must have built good relationships with customers he'll leverage on before he moves.
If he were to be in Lagos, he should apply for head office roles as his grade can always be accommodated.
What professional qualifications does he have to give him an added advantage for a strategic unit.
Although man proposes and God disposes, one still has to plan.
The image I attached, in branch you cap at DM, retail will not get to AGM but HO can get to AGM and beyond.
The OP needs help but...
