Youths Who Reject Taxi Driving In Nigeria Embrace It Abroad — Wike by kingjayzeelan07: 12:00am On Nov 01
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says taxi driving is a noble means of livelihood and should be embraced to make a decent income.

Wike stated this at the FCT Renewed Hope Youth Empowerment Programme in the Garki area of Abuja on Thursday when he handed over 80 new cars to beneficiaries to use as taxis.

They are not paying a dime. No; the government is saying this is our support to feed your family and reduce the cost of transportation in the city… Abuja should compete with other cities in the world,” said the minister.

He encouraged the beneficiaries not to be ashamed that they are being empowered to be taxi drivers, saying that many Nigerians who reject taxi driving jobs at home gladly embrace such when they travel abroad.

What you will see in the social media is that he wants them to be taxi drivers. We travel and see Nigerians who stay abroad and work as taxi drivers,” the former Rivers State governor said.

Nigerians at home will say our uncle is in London, my uncle is in Houston, my uncle is in Paris, my uncle has sent us $200 but he (the uncle abroad) makes his money as a taxi driver, feeds his family and pays his taxes.

Instead of encouraging how to feed our families, the next thing we will see in social media is that they are giving them jobs as taxi drivers.

We can’t be taxi drivers here but we prefer taxi driving in London. That is the country you are in.”

To curtail kidnapping and cases of ‘one-chance’ robbery, the minister said effective January 2025, any commercial bus not duly profiled by security agencies won’t be allowed to operate within the nation’s capital.

Wike said, “Most of the Keke Napep and most of the motorcycles are informants. Everybody here that is a beneficiary is being profiled by the security.

And so what we are coming up with is that from January next year, there will be nobody that will operate as a taxi driver or a bus driver without having approval from security, with security profiling you and without going about with Abuja colour.

Nothing like using any vehicle on the road. No, we won’t allow that. From January, we won’t allow that.
“We will take the vehicle number, name of the drivers and the rest so everybody will have confidence that this is the vehicle I’m entering in case anything happens.”

At least they will not queue up for fuel there nor get harassed by police for bribes.

Wike will not enter a taxi in Nigeria but would gladly do so, abroad.

Governors who ignore shooting and fire victims in their states also go to other states and donate N500m. How about that?

You & your current employer who reject seeking medical care in Nigeria embrace it wholeheartedly abroad.

Ex-Gov. Wike used to act (/pretend to be) logical, I really don’t know what’s happening to him these days.
He said; the Uncle ~taxi driver~ sent $200;
so how many ‘taxi drivers’ in Nigeria can gift their nephew/niece N300,000 today?

Do you see their leaders talk down or disrespect taxi drivers like you’re currently doing or
like the white honourable disappearance man from Abia assaulted that bolt driver?

When this man speaks sometimes you realise he is not that wise at his age.

The reason is clear why some youths embark on some of these stressful work abroad.

INCOME

Income of that same business abroad and Nigeria are not the same.

You can see someone driving taxi or packing load in a developed nation build a mansion here in Nigeria after like 5 to 10 years.

He should ask himself howmuch gain do taxi drivers make daily with the current fuel hike and their daily expensies under this economy.

Howmany taxi drivers can build a house in Nigeria or be sending money to their relation frequently undecided

If taxi drivers start making 50k daily in Nigeria, no graduate will even waste his time looking for office work instead they will borrow money and buy taxi.

Your dignity is still preserved.

Our leaders really need to sit-down and have serious discussion with the citizens on the way forward to move the country in the right direction.
You guys can't be talking about tax which In a way is very good in other to move the country forward but on the other hand go through the back door to codedly convert people's sweat they contributed as tax and award yourself with bogus or stupid contracts delivering substandard job at the end of the day.We the citizens contributing such tax won't be happy with you lots.
People like very dark man and few others can even boldly post videos of substandard jobs executed by you guys.
A state am working and paying tax of around 1M per year via my salary alone executed a road project in my area and under 1month of construction all the pavement way coal tar and stone they use had clear from the way.passing through such everyday sickens one heart
