sorry everyone i'm new to nairaland. i will like to know if it is possible to get a job just by having only a nebosh certificate. i'm interested in having a nebosh certificate and don't know if there are job opportunities for people with no bachelors degree. will appreciate any response. thank you

Almost impossible, without EXPERIENCE.

Try and see if the training institution can arrange internship for you.

the trend was very helpful but i need to know more about the hse thing and how lucrative it is in nigeria without a bachelors degree.

but Nigerians rarely get a foot in without a degree

Depends on where you are and who you know (+ job type too).

Basically, u'd need to go for some training or certification(s), then get like 2 years experience.

After that BSc wont be  SO MUCH of an issue.

well i don't really think it will be easy in Nigeria, considering the fact that every company in NIgeria sees Bsc as the basic you should have before applying for a job, unless you have a very sound technical certificate that is equivalent to a 3 years Bsc degree.

In some other countries, like Ghana, this would have been very possible, why?, there cherish experience more than a Bsc without no experience because at the end of the day you are still going to invest time, resources to train the Bsc guy and you still have to factor in some time for him to catch up with the job and become productive, all the same nothing is impossible, afterall i do see philipino,s, mexicans and dutch roughnecks in rigs in nigerian continental waters, some can barely speak english, but they have technical certificates,

its just the system, our government did not make any provision to protect these jobs for it's citizen, it will amaze you that some of this foreign hands are recruited here in nigeria by nigerian recruitment consultants!!

just give it a short, Nebosh is a nice cert to have its useful but in the oil and gas and most especially the marine industry

Guess op has to work his way up the ladder, starting with just any job he gets in that industry and making cross overs as he adds more certs.

A BSc would make things a whole lot easier though.

Now would be a good time for those advertising NEBOSH courses to say something.

i do realize that i have to work my way to the top, don't mind getting any job while completing my bachelors programme. i've put this on hold cos i'm interested in working then schooling, the economic situation in this country can not allow me to continue so i've put my bachelors programme on hold. like i said i don't mind working my way to the top, currently i'm working on people that may refer me to hse jobs, doesn't matter how small i start, a slow start is better than stagnation. i just need advice as to how to go about this before i get my hse certificate then diploma. from my research some schools in the uk accept hse diplomas for Msc programmes. so i wish to this get a job and find my way to the top. thank you very much for all your contributions, they've been greatly appreciated and helpful, don't mind if anyone can get me the right connections to get a hse job once i'm through with the nebosh certificate

You can build on your Nebosh qualification to degree and even Masters level.
