The Cheetahs will host the Super Eagles at the Felix Houphet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Thursday, November 14.

They will round up their qualifying campaign with an away fixture against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya four days later.

The West Africans currently occupy second position on the Group D table with six points from four games.

Remo Stars goalkeeper, Serge Obassa has received a call-up to the Benin Republic national team, DAILY POST reports.


Remo Stars confirmed Obassa’s invitation on the social media.

“Obassa Adebiyi has received a call-up to the Benin Republic squad for this month’s 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches.” Remo Stars wrote on X.

The Cheetahs will face Nigeria and Libya in a 2025 Africa Cup of qualifiers later in the month.

As Nigeria gears up for a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Benin Republic, the Super Eagles camp has officially opened in Abidjan as the Super Eagles aim to seal a place in Morocco 2025.

Interim manager Augustine Eguavoen, recently returning from a medical leave in Belgium, arrived in the Ivorian capital on Sunday to oversee preparations, and by Monday morning, he was joined by two early arrivals.

Three more players – Kelechi Iheanacho, Maduka Okoye and Wilfred Ndidi – have arrived the Super Eagles camp in Abidjan, DAILY POST reports.

Ghana in crisis set to eliminate self

While Nigeria’s preparations remain on track, Ghana face significant challenges ahead of their own crucial qualifiers.

The Black Stars need a miracle to qualify for AFCON 2025, sitting on just two points from their first four games.

With Angola already qualified, Ghana’s path to Morocco looks bleak, as Sudan – currently second with seven points – need only two more to eliminate Ghana.

To make matters worse, eight players have withdrawn from the Ghana squad, leaving the team severely depleted.

Star forward Iñaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao, Alexander Djiku, Tariq Lamptey, Ibrahim Osman, Jonas Adjetey, Antoine Semenyo, Jerome Opoku, and Joseph Paintsil will all miss the upcoming matches due to injuries or personal reasons.

Meanwhile, Osman Bukari, Ransford Yeboah Koningsdorffer, Forson Amankwah, Terry Yegbe, Ebenezer Annan and Kingsley Schindler have been called up to replace the eight players who pulled out of the Ghana squad.

Benin appear to be prepared very hard for Thursday’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against the Super Eagles as 18 players are due in their training camp in Abidjan today.

Ten players hit the camp Sunday, while another eight players led by captain Steve Mounie, Jodel Dossou and David Kiki are due to come in today.

Coach Gernot Rohr has invited 25 players for this make-or-break clash.

Gernot Rohr says his side must be well organised to beat the Super Eagles.


In June, Nigeria was not at full strength. Now they are. The only player missing is Ajayi, who is injured.

We know they are the favourites and it will take a feat to beat them again,” the German said during his interaction with the media.

“Despite the absences we have, we are confident that we can play a good game and get a good result.

“The key to this match will certainly be good organisation. Our newly composed defence will also have to perform well, because we have had to reshape our back line several times already.

If we are in a good place, if we manage to develop our football as we have been doing for about a year and a half, I believe we can put them in danger.
