Can someone kindly remind me what Tinubu has achieved since assumption in office. Or is it Buhari blame tactics.

It is because Nigerians are not doing what needs to be done.

Free from what if I may ask?

I’d rather advice the average Nigerian to strive to develop himself or herself in such a manner that one’s financial landscape can weather Nigeria’s political and economic storms. But if we don’t call out bad governance or if we defend bad governance (I’m not saying you do) or if we are disunited by tribe, religion and political party towards bad governance, we would have done ourselves disservice.

Even if we are doing well for ourselves, we have family members who still depend on good governance to live a proper life. It’s our responsibility to hold current governments accountable. The previous administrations had to make way, many times, because they couldn’t deliver. We cannot continue to look back at them when there is someone at the helm who promised to deliver. If we keep quiet, we are making things easier for them. If we fight ourselves on the basis of religion, tribe and political affiliation, the rogues are emboldened to continue in impunity because they can see that they have support.

If he knows what to do but doesn’t do it, will keeping quiet solve it? No. No matter how ineffective people think critiquing and seeking answers is, Buhari was tired and had to shut down twitter. These things give them concern hence the conversations around regulating the media. I’d rather do my best to keep them on their toes no matter how little the result because doing nothing will give them free rein to do their evils.

The problem is, you and they all know the answer, but they don't like the answer.

So, let's play APC vs PDP....

While the answer remains in Abidjan.

What I know Ivory Coast did was to privatize parts of its electricity sector but the problem here is that when we do the same thing, the process will be corrupted such that the envisaged gains would go to a few rather than all. It’s not about PDP Vs APC because I am not on either side of the divide.

It’s about holding your government responsible for not doing what you claim they know they are supposed to do. Keeping quiet doesn’t make it any better. It is not the responsibility of a mechanic or farmer or teacher to resolve national energy crisis. In every organization, system or institution, leadership is the key factor to success. Nigeria is no different. Government wields state powers and instruments of coercion - this is not for fun. It is to ensure that the right behaviors and outcomes are derived. It’s not Wasiu the mechanic that will wield this unique power on behalf of the leaders.

Also, there is a trust deficit. Just like we are seeing with PMS, Nigerians will pay a premium if they know that their payment of the premium will solve the issue. But when you pay a premium today and it’s all stories, how do you convince me to pay another premium tomorrow.

And you think the same problems are not in ivory coast?

You want cheap power, so enjoy what you paid for. When you are ready to pay for 24/7 power, you and all your countrymen irrespective of party, religion, belief, etc.....then you will get it.

And calling me agbado and insensitive does not change the fact... cheesy

Again just like we see with PMS, the issues are deeper than cost. PMS cost has been revised many times this year and Nigerians adjusted. However they know too well that the secrecy and selfish interest in that sector will ensure that the problems remain. That’s the major problem. If you haven’t dealt with that, other things you are doing is like dancing round the problem.

How do you catch those people sabotaging the national grid? By using the military to secure all power installations across the country? You people don't understand that you don't force love of country on a people. Nigerians don't like this country. If we genuinely loved this country, we wouldn't be talking about the collapse of national grid in 2024.

So, how do you think the refineries and the power sector depreciated over the years?

It was because at the end of the day, all of us were not paying market price for both the petrol we consumed and the power we consumed.

(Oga, I am going to have to ask you to forget politics, forget APC vs PDP. I am not here to defend tinubu, atiku, or anyone here. I am not here to defend evil or inefficency. This is the result of ten years of reading around the thing).

Right now power costs N160-70 to make one kwh. Except for Band A consumers who pay at least N200 and above, most consumers pay below N100. Add the fact that about 40% of Nigerians are not paying for the power they use...whether they get it for 24 hours a day, or 6 hours a day.

And add the fact that the problem has been going on for decades. Add the fact that since 1980, in the name of electrifiying Nigeria, hundereds of rural communites who cannot afford to pay for power, even at discounted rate, have been connected to the grid...overloading it and causing issues.

IN 2004-6, i was a student living off campus in a residence where there were 30 students from university and a poly. Of the 30 of us, only 6 were paying electricity bills regularly. SIX. Me inclusive. It was not like I had the money.

And with attitudes like this youe xpect there to be light? You expect there to be enough money for discos and gencos to buy poles , transformers, wires? Or na by magic dem go find the money?

I have been shouting this on this site, and all people can do is get abusive, because I am insensntive?

WOULD YOU WORK HARD IF YOUR BOSS PAID YOU ONE QUARTER YOUR SALARY FROM NEXT MONTH, AND KEPT DOING IT.?

And all the corruption you yap about is as a result of the massive underpaying we do to our power sector. LIke estimated billing...it is done by discos to rip off their consumers because if they don't do it, they would collapse financailly.

Infact shoot, 3 of them have already collapsed. Debts. One even declared force maejure.

Meanwhiile there is light 24/7 in other countries...because they pay market price for power. Yes even in Ivory coast which has all the problems NIgeria has...corruption , looting leaders, tribal divisions, etc. But because they properly privatised....they have light.

Yet pointing all this out means I must be agbado.

It’s a lie to suggest that the government cannot run refineries. Saudi’s Aramco is said to be the most profitable company in the world and run by the Saudi government. Brazil’s Petrobras is state owned.

Privatization is supposed to ensure efficiency but in the Nigerian situation, you’d have the process done in a shoddy manner such that the people who are delivering the service have no expertise but they are close to the power brokers. How will that sector work? We are not talking text book privatization here but the Nigerian situation. Again I say, leadership have state power and instruments of coercion to ensure that right behaviors and outcomes are derived not Wasiu the carpenter.

Saudi Aramco is a joint venture, plus it is funded by the Saudis, who have oil money to burn, and it is run by expats. So, hardly NNPC.

Petrobras is state owned. But unlike NNPC , they haven't been forced to sell their products for decades under cost price.

Priviatization works if the government lets the privatized entity set its prices, not the one where government sets the prices for them below production costs, and then acts surprised when the inevitable losses and inefficencies happen.

GSM has been in private hands, no price setting, result...it grows and grows.

Bros make I reply you small as I don't do this much

In Nigeria with the amount we pay for things we use that is petrol electricity water and all are enough to go along way because we have the funds

Have you seen where one governor stole 50b before so you know what that 50B can do in a state
Now calculate all the money most governors steal
Add the Nass
Add presidency
And MDs and chairman's

We are not truthful to innovation or development

Many years back we do buy our poles pay for transformers and even if electric went off we still give money to officials to put it on sometimes

If we are ready it won't take us 5 years things will change for good

We have all it takes to be the best but we don't have a leader not to talk of visionary one
The only president (democracy) is Yardua within his 2 years there was fresh air but he was killed because of evil people

We that are paying don't get value for what we pay for so Nigeria problems is not the money but a good leader with vision as dubai

1.Where is NNPC- in Abuja, abi? Doing what- on your Fuel or Diesel ⛽ and fixing your fuel, since 1960 independence!😂
2.where is your 🚨 lights?,where are the Pre-paid Metres? How about your Transformers? How many are they?
When are we going to have 24/7 Lights in Nigeria?
3.We are told that Terrorists are wrecking havoc on the High Power Tension across the Regions but what happened to the Governors Humongous NBILLIONS Security Money Votes?
4.Are we still having DISCOS, GENCO and TCN in Nigeria?
More excuses because of Corruption in these Departments and actually, they are not meant for Nigeria development!
5.The same lights - takes Elon Musk to the Space,
The same lights 🚨 are being used for the Space people to go to the Moon, yet we can't even used our own for 24- Hours but they told us- use Band- A ,B,etc,Nonsense!
I'm not blaming the Minister but these rot have been with us ,for Decades, and it seems we love DARKNESS.
But,if the Minister can't find ways for Expansion, then let's look the best alternatives.
