Obaseki commissions new EBS Digital Radio Studio, Transmission Room, others

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday, commissioned the new Digital Radio Studio and Transmission Room for the State’s Broadcasting Service (EBS).

The governor, represented by the State Commissioner for Orientation and Communication, Chris Nehikhare, noted that the launch of the digital studio, transmission room and other state-of-the-art facilities within the EBS was part of the government’s efforts to revamp the state’s media assets and upgrade them to meet global standards.

Obaseki said, “Today, we are commissioning a brand new digital studio for EBS. The studio equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities is just more than a technological advancement. In an era where information is vital, this studio will serve as a beacon of knowledge, creativity, and cultural expression.

“With this new FM studio and the transmission room, we are not only enhancing our broadcast capacity but also empowering local voices. This platform will enable us to reach wider audiences, promote local talents, and ensure that every community has a voice in the conversation.

“As we move forward, let's embrace the opportunity this studio presents and together we will strengthen our shared values, celebrate our diversity, and build an informed society.”

He further, “The facility is very impressive and the staff have shown dedication to this project, and I sue for the sustenance of the projects as Government has invested so much because of the trust it has for the staff.”

Obaseki added, “Our target is to make EBS a station to listen to and ensure we attract the best brains and hands across the country.”

Earlier in her welcome address, the station’s Acting General Manager, Mrs. Rachel Osareimen Oboyo, commended the governor for the revamp and upgrade of the State’s broadcasting service, equipping and setting it up to compete favorably with other media outfits in Nigeria.

She noted that the station was down some two years ago but the governor turned it around with world-class digital facilities ensuring it competes favourably in the media space.

The General Manager stated, “It’s remarkable for EBS and the people of Edo State, as the new radio digital studio comes live. It has been a journey by the administration of His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to see that the once-forgotten radio station of the State is alive and working.

“It is no news that EBS radio and TV was down some two years ago but today, a digital transmitter and world-class radio equipment have been installed by the state government. Edo people will be proud again to receive all the programs from EBS in a single dial."

Better make those things available incase they become forgotten by the new government
Not that they will come and be waiting for govt allocation every 3 months and start crying that govt has abandoned them
